Cousins had a top 10 defense his first two seasons here by the way and the results have been covered already.
Tom Brady had a top-10 defense for 17 out of his 20 years in NE and only won 6 Super Bowls. But yeah, Cousins is supposed to come in and win a Super Bowl right away. SF had a top 10 defense for 18 out of 20 years and Montana and Young won 5. Allen has had top-10 defense for 3 years in a row, and he is supposed to be better than Cousins, or so people keep saying, why hasn't he won a Super Bowl? It's not just having a top defense for 1 or 2 years. Sure, some QBs and teams get lucky. Green Bay did with Favre and Rodgers. Favre had a top-10 defense for 5 years and won once. Why? I'm sure he's better than Cousins. Does it happen in one year, yeah, it can. But everything has to go right. Exactly right for that to happen. And if does, those teams fall off the face of the earth rather quickly. If you haven't noticed Rodgers has never sniffed another Super Bowl game. He's also never had the number 2 defense again. Either did Favre, Wentz, or Foles. Flacco had one for 4 years, then won with the 12th.
It's not about just one year and getting it done. But that's what people here expect, instant effing success. So the question is, are you going to be happy with just one and done and fall back into mediocrity again, as the Packers did with Rodgers, or do you actually want a chance of a couple over a few years?
You talk of people claiming the defense matters. But yet, this whole thread is about Cousins not being able to get it done. The fact is no QB with this kind of defense can get it done. So, let's pile on the one man who has very limited effect on what the defense actually does. Because he can't overcome what the defense gives up. Hell, he's even being blamed for the points on defense because of TOP. But, yeah, another strawman argument by me, right? Even what happened last year, that all was luck they won those games. Hell, there is even a thread about that, lucky or unlucky?
But I get it. Cousins sucks, he can't get it done, and anyone claiming otherwise is an idiot. I wish one thing, Cousins leaves MN, goes to another team, and wins a Super Bowl. Because we all know, he can't do here with this defense. Wait, no, that doesn't matter, he is a mediocre QB who makes bad decisions and panics. That covers at least 3 of the many things that have been said about him here.
