I know this will come as a shock, but you missed the point completely. We're 152 pages into this thread and you continue to go head-to-head with an invisible strawman who says that the defense isn't a problem. The fact that nobody has made this claim doesn't phase you for a second.
My "no evidence" comment was in response to what I quoted - that Cousins is somehow keeping the ship afloat. And it wasn't only about the defense. The claim is that somehow - coincidentally, magically, just total bad luck - Cousins shows up, and the rest of the team goes straight into the gutter - so much so that his SB-caliber talent hasn't been enough to prevent an overall regression in team success. As has been pointed out here repeatedly, his outrageous salary, complete lack of leadership, and the additional burden Cousins-led teams put on the defense are undoubtedly major factors.
those "pointing that out" are choosing myopic viewpoints.
Cousins and the team got into the postseason in 2019, beating NOLA again, in THEIR house, before SF destroyed us in the trenches (and GB, the same way, a week later). This gets utterly forgotten/waved off pretty constantly...and remember, this was with a toxic head coach that wasn't even doing film reviews with his starting QB until 2021.
During his entire time in Purple, Cousins has had bad to tragic IOL protection. We have very good young tackles, but if the people right in front of the QB are basically matadors...it's not going to go well for any play caller.
After 2019? The defense hit the cellar, despite Cousins' "brutal" contract (which was already falling down into the depths of the top 10 among QBs, who all mysteriously had better defenses and at least no worse pass protection) being re-done to free up money for defensive contracts. Zimmer's defensive spending spree got some headlines of its own, but the people of a certain...agenda...strangely omit that as well.
They also dismiss multiple seasons with 30th (or worse) rated defenses as "excuses", so their opinions are pretty obviously, again, agendas. Functional people would call a bottom tier defense a "REASON".
I've never seen anything like the whacko, bizarre, and utterly pointless vitriol thrown at this man. He's easily our best QB in many years, produces despite well-known and often league-leading abuse, and has grace and class through it all that his hate club clowns could never comprehend. I really do wonder if he stole their prom dates or something.
We'd like better, that's all. Cousins is streaky in the short run, but remarkably consistent in the long run. Let me rephrase that...he's remarkably the same as he ever was, with the exception of one year when all the luck went his way. Consider that a longer than usual streaky stretch. And now here we are. By and large, he's the same quarterback who played in WA and wasn't a fan favorite there either.
We'd like a game changer, Cousins is an above average game manager who, more often than not, comes up short in the situations some of us would like a QB to come up big in.
