Not to mention that virtually all of the Tier 2 QBs that Minnesota is more likely to have a shot at (Sanders, if he declares, Ewers, Jordan, McCarthy, etc.) are all mobile and several are legit weapons with their scrambling and off-platform ability.
You don't need great IOL play unless you have a statue. Unfortunately, Kirk is a statue. Who's not great at throwing the ball away or sensing where the pressure is coming from.
...and that's one "requirement" that I personally have when I'm scouting the 2024 Draft QB's: mobility. The next QB doesn't necessarily have to possess the athleticism of Anthony Richardson or Lamar Jackson, but they at least need what I call, the "Brock Purdy" level of mobility - basically enough to scramble away from pressure when it comes and pick up first downs with his legs when the opportunties are there.
Some 2024 Draft eligible QB's that I'm "questioning" their level of mobility and need to see more: Texas QB Quinn Ewers and Miami, FL QB Tyler Van Dyke. I also want to see more Shedeur Sanders from an athleticism standpoint - I love his pocket presence and abilty to roll-out to escape it (it's obvious he's been well-coached) but I haven't seen his athleticism come into play thru 2 games quite yet.
We'll be discussing the 2024 Draft QB prospects all season in a dedicated "2024 Draft QB Watch" thread in the College/Draft subforum here: link
