Should KO relinquish playcalling duties?

This has been the issue for a while. I think that’s why many have been hoping we actually try and rebuild the roster more than keep pushing chips in just to “fill the gaps” or whatever. Imo the record we have this year is an overachievement based on our talent level (and the stats/further analysis of their play sort of back that up).

It’s time we move on from a lot of aging/expensive vets and look more towards building the roster for the future more than anything. No more extensions to keep the “window” open and no more pushing cap back or trading away picks. Use our assets to build for the future so we can hopefully have Super Bowl talent one day.

As for this thread on the coaching issues I think Donatell losing his job is fine (even if part of it is talent, he hasn’t been very good either). Koc has some issues but also seems to have gotten the most out of Kirk this year in big moments which we haven’t really seen before and lead to many wins. I’d let him continue however he wants in terms of play calling moving forward.

Well extending Cousins as opposed to moving on and looking to the future is a big part of it in terms of $ but that is not it. We also restructured Smith and Thielen pushing cap down the road in order to sign other areas to fill the gaps (you mention cutting him, now that carries a larger hit to our cap if we do so). The biggest signing we had was a player that is 30. On top of that we traded some draft capital for current players as well while keeping most of our other high priced vets. All of this points to more of a run it back and fill the gap approach pretty clearly, that's what we ran back. I agree the Wilfs likely played a big part in this but it doesn't make much sense to deny it's what we did imo. If you choose to keep running it back and competing by pushing money down the road and using picks I think it's fair to point out the goal should be a SB in those types of situations. If not and you later say we will take that approach it means you lost some assets and took extra time just to do that route anyways. 

You bring up JJ and say we would lose him if we moved on from guys despite us having his control either way still. Also if we move on from guys next year which would be the same general idea wouldn't it supposedly upset him anyways still if we assume that's how it works?

I actually think this year has been more exciting than anticipated, it's the bright spot that we are 12-4. I thought we would be more like 10-11 win team I think before the season so it's a bit better than that. I do agree that its odd not really seeming to have SB talent with that record which is why I think coaching staff does deserve some props even with their issues. It sucks that we have such a small chance to win it all but it's actually improved compared to what many thought before the year. That's kind of why people wanted to take a different direction though because even now at 12-4 many don't think we have much of a chance anyways. I hope you are right and we do start making significant changes and look to completely revamp the roster starting next season (just like I did last season). Many said they would be shocked if the new regime didn't do that and here we are.

I don't think Fangio wanted a coordinator job this year, as he only interviewed for the Jags HC job and there were no reports on him landing anybody's open DC job, my guess is he either wanted one more crack at a HC job or take a year off from having a major gig (he's currently a consultant for the Eagles). The current rumors are that he would be the DC for whatever team trades for Sean Payton.

I say both camps were right. Based on the rules they won 10+ games, but played like a 7-8 win team. Which makes Reignman the most right ofc, the Vikings were frauds.
