Regarding the Texans winning today and losing the #1 draft pick, I am not surprised that Lovie played to win. He isn't the kind of guy to intentionally lose a game. He is just not wired that way. We may see it differently (or not) but Lovie wouldn't play to lose. Not even for the #1 pick of the draft.
He seemed like a very good guy when he coached the Bears. A better person than coach. When the Bears let him go I was all for that move, but I did respect the man. With the Texans he stepped into a mess. He knew (I think) that it was a 1 year thing to help an organization that was a very bad organization - and I'm not talking about wins and losses. It was a cesspool place. I like to think he tried to bring some good to a bad organization. I can picture him doing that. I wish him luck with whatever he chooses to do now.
Regarding the Bears and the #1 draft pick, I hope they auction it off and get a solid war chest of high draft picks to go with their $120-million dollars of cap money. They're going to need it. This was the year of a horrific teardown of the roster. Next season begins the rebuilding of the team. Every one of those draft picks are precious now. And so is every penny of the cap $$$. They need to spend it wisely.
Good luck in the playoffs. I will be backing the Vikings bigtime. Hope you get to the Promised Land and hoist that Lombardi.
Congrats on the #1 overall pick. I didn't believe you that the Bears were as bad as you were describing. But after watching the first half of yesterdays game it was like wow! Poles has a lot of work to do.
