Minnesota should want no part of Green Bay or Detroit in the First Round.
Vikings games are actually fairly easy to predict. If the opponent's Offensive Line is stout, be it naturally or by the grace of the shitry reffing gods, then their Offense will be able to move ball at will. In which case it comes solely down to can the Vikings get enough Sacks and/or Turnovers.
With a backup(s) Center Minnesota is no longer able to run the ball enough. Does the opponent have a good enough pass rush, via players or tons of blitzing, to pressure Cousins and prevent JJ from going nuts?
Green Bay has Clark. Down year or not, he's been able to consistently get instant penetration against Minnesota. Smith is a threat. They have a good blitzing ILB.
Detroit has Hutchinson. Who may very well end up being DROTY.
And they both have stout enough Offensive Lines to stymie the Vikings pass rush. The math is easy. Both of those Teams would be favorites in my mind. Even in Minnesota. They are both in relatively good form, the Panthers game aside.
The Giants have a few good pass rushers but nothing to write home about on Defense. And an Offensive Line that Minnesota can pressure. The last game shouldn't have been close. O'Connell called a bad game. If he gets his head out of his ass and dials up more quick passes and WR screens to counter the blitz it really shouldn't be as close the second time around.
It's all moot. The Vikings ceiling is a spanking in the Divisional Round. Which is no different than I predicted before the season started. Just with more wins and way more thrills/stress than could possibly be predicted.
I agree with that with one modification, even with the starting center the Vikings are not a good running team which they were in previous years. Blame it on Dalvin, but the offensive line is NOT as in tune to running the ball as it used to be I cant find the push when I watch.
About Asahmoah, hes got speed and can cover, but he is bad at tackling and doesnt shed blocks either in the run game. He doesnt seem to have the bend to shed the lineman, sounds like a bust to me. I hope the kid kicks it, but this is a major concern.
