But they obviously heard about or saw this one and thought it was funny. (not sure if it was the picture or the Vikings play)

You know it's time to call it quits when your 12-3 team is actually an embarrassment to talk about with other football fans.

Only the Vikings, only the goddamn Vikings!

I don't know who should be considered the biggest loser

The long time fan who has had enough believing the cliche line - "wait till next year"

or the naive "real" fan who thinks that having your heart and soul crushed year in, year out is a badge of honor.

Even a jackass stops at some point after enough abuse.

Maybe he will root for the green & gold... or maybe not. Maybe he'll root for no one.

I've contemplated this over the last several years. What would happen if Packer football ceased to exist? I think I'd be very saddened much as you'd be saddened if the Vikings shut their doors forever. But I don't know if I'd be jumping to another team. How could I after roughly 40 years of rooting for everyone from Paul Ott Carruth to Aaron Rodgers? It would be the ending of a major chapter in my life... one that had highs and lows, and many, many hours of watching on television and in person coast-to-coast.

Given the "social activism" the NFL is now involved with, I'd say I would be even more likely to not root for anyone. Maybe do some casual watching, bet a little bit here and there. Maybe watch more college ball.

I'll say that the passion I had as a fan in my 20s differs from where I stand now in my 40s. Now it's just as much about habit and nostalgia. The wins are still fun, but the losses don't sting as much. Whether we are talking about discussing yesterday's game or a game 30 years ago, I think my enjoyment level is the same or darn near close as far as interaction is involved.

A game where the refs cheated us, the players wore the wrong cleats, and we had 2 ints with fluke ints. This doesn't make the top 20 40 games to make you quit the Vikings.

-1998 where the Kicker didn't miss one kick all year until... he was also hit on that kick should have had another chance
-1975 playoff vs DAL where the refs cheated us and allowed holding and a PUSH OFF HAIL MARY (that was our best team ever imo other than maybe 98)
-2009 where the refs let NO go wild - then there were too many men on the field wtf
-there were numerous games vs GB where the refs cheated us

-I remember one random game vs Denver where DEN won on throw we had intercepted

-how about when we traded Tarkenton away and had no QB but had a great team losing home playoff games with a terrible QB we didn't have a QB had everything else

-Walker trade ugh!

-losses vs KC MIA PIT OAK in SBs

-season where we started 6-0 and then didn't make the playoffs

-Miracle playoffs where we BEAT the great 49ers team in SF and then in WASH Darren Nelson drops the ball to lose the game WTF

Etc etc etc this game is NOTHING to Minnesota Vikings fan who have been paying attention. This is actually one of the most positively surprising seasons ever. The BUF game is one we usually lose ditto the Colts game and the NYG game those are the kind of games we lose.

IF YOU WERE GOING TO QUIT YOU REALLY SHOULD HAVE QUIT A LOT EARLIER WHEN WE WERE DOWN 33-0 at home to the stinking Colts with no HC AT HOME when we could have clinched the Division.

Worst thing about yesterdays bloodbath is how the national media is slobbering over Rogers and Pukers now . Its pretty easy when the NFL orchestrates that the officials call games to make sure the Packers always have a chance to win and even make the schedule every year so GB can get out to a good lead in the division and also finish with as many home games in Dec and Jan as they can . The Packers failed the quick start this year but typically they have a 4 game lead by October 31 . The team rebooted the whole coaching staff and culture, won the NFCN, are locked into the playoffs, and that's after two straight losing seasons.

1st year with this HC, OC, and DC (granted, if they replace the DC today, I won't shed a tear). 12 wins in the books, but..."done", two weeks before the offseason starts.

I know the nega-nancies will state that acknowledging any progress short of a championship is "settling", but when the win count, division title, and postseason berth are tangible evidence to the contrary, well, I'll simply dismiss them as the babbling tools I'll always find them to be.

As for the "done" people, despite the progress that has been made...get gone, and just leave next time. The passive-aggressive "I'm all huffy-pouting and leaving" multi-chapter exit BS is best left to tween movie tantrums.

OK, KOC...time to earn that money and acclaim...!
