No I am a supporter of 2023 is Kirk's last year.
I have watched Vikings football for 40 years. Dante is the only remotely close franchise QB that we have ever drafted in my time.
It's practically impossible to draft an elite QB. Hardest position in all of sports. People think we will get the next Mahomes. Hahaha, it ain't happening
You hit exactly zero balls if you never take the bat off of your shoulder.
And there's an interesting wrinkle to consider. Mobile QBs coming out of college won't need to be quite as fast at reading progressions or as pinpoint accurate thanks to Vic Fangio and his 2 Deep Safety Shell.
The League will adjust. Starting this offseason. Bigger O-Linemen to bulldoze those smaller, speedy D-Linemen. More running plays. More designed QB runs. More RPOs. More option routes.
Lamar Jackson is not an Elite Passer. But he's an Elite Weapon. If the Ravens can ever stay healthy and get strong enough on their Lines they are legit Superbowl Contenders.
A college QB doesn't have to walk into the NFL and have Peyton Manning's processing speed. Or Tom Brady's diagnosing skills. Or Drew Brees' accuracy. They just need to have a live arm, good understanding of the game and situational football and legit mobility that can threaten the Defense.
Of course we'd all prefer a Peyton/Tom/Drew. Or even that dicknose in GB. Defenses will eventually counter all the running that I anticipate seeing the next couple of years, including with the QBs. And when they do pocket passing will become en vogue again.
But until then Minnesota can get by with a youngun with a good arm, that's intelligent and has wheels. While fixing the issues on the interior of both Trenches.
Like you, I don't think they make a move until after 2023, which seems like has always been the target for Kwesi to get more aggressive with the rebuild.
So who is your sleeper guy then? Hooker, Levis or Richardson or someone else with your traits required....
