The hot topic will be Allen or Keenum, of course, but what else are some of the Bills fans saying? Let's dive in...

Buffalo plays very well at home. 41-7 over the Titans, 38-3 over the Steelers, 27-17 over the Packers. GB scored a meaningless TD midway thru the 4th to make the score look respectable. I am not surprised its 7.5
Also, the Bills are still favorites to win the Super Bowl (+275) according to MGM. The Miami team everyone is so scared of is 9th in SB odds (+2200).
This week the Bills are 7 pt favs over the team that are 7th in SB odds, while Fish are 4 pt favs over the team that are 19th.

This is assuming Allen plays. If he's out, that number will drop by 4-5 points, at least. Vegas knows everything, so hopefully they already know what's up with Josh. If there was a big question mark about him playing, this game would most likely be off the board.
Not too long ago Josh Allen made the line look silly against the vikings. Let's not have Kirk Cousins asking if "we like that" by time the game ends.
the line is going down because everyone is hammering the Vikings
Saying we can't take anyone lightly anymore (implying they took the Jets lightly) after a loss is a pet peeve of mine. Just because we lost a game doesn't mean McD, Frazier, and the team came in taking anyone lightly.
Jets are 6-3 on the back of great defense and good ground game and a good coaching staff with a stout defensive background. Not like we lost to a bottom feeder team like Colts or Houston.
This was a tough divisional rival, I have no doubt they took this game very seriously even though it didn't go our way.

Word on the street in gambling circles is that this line is about to move significantly in the Vikings favor which would indicate Vegas knows JA17 isn't playing this week.
The immediate fallout and impact:
- Bills fall to 3rd place in the AFCE, Dolphins regain division lead (this of course assumes the obvious that they beat a bad Browns team at home)
- Bills fall to all the way to 6th or 7th spot in conference if Chargers win
- KC assumes sole possession of #1 seed (also assuming obvious outcome of facing a bad Jaguars team at home).
We'll find out a lot about this team with our without JA17, but if it's the latter I feel it will probably be a somewhat easy win for the Vikings since they will stack the box and force Keenan to beat them.
Just goes to show that nothing is guaranteed and it's probably a good thing all the superbowl noise has come to an abrupt halt.

I hope Allen doesn't play so he can fully heal. I'm confident about Case Keenum. Defense and special teams will just have to carry the load while Keenum plays the game manager QB and just avoid stupid mistakes.
I'd love to believe this but I really think this team is going to look like total trash (at least on offense) without JA17 which is not only a direct indictment on Beane and the front office, but shows that he is truly a legit MVP candidate that has carried this team thus far.
The radically changed standings with a loss are certainly true enough.
There is a razor thin margin for error here!
I think the D is going to have to come up huge and really control the Vikings scoring.
Then hope and pray that Keenum can find his way to 13-17 points or something modest, but good enough to win.
Would love to see the D limit Minnesota scoring to 10 points...just to give us a fair shot.

Just like with the Jets, watch the Vikings offense explode and play their best game of the year against us.
They pretty much have already made public comments about how they still feel disrespected despite being 7-1 and see this game as a good barometer of who they really are.
They certainly aren't going to have any sympathy for the Bills if JA17 is out and will still treat this as playing an NFL heavyweight. Either way at this point not even sure if it's a win if Allen does suit up.

It's a long season...
IF we lost to go to 6-3 there are plenty of games left. I could see 12-5 in that scenario, or even 11-6 if Allen misses a few weeks. Either way, we get into the tournament.

I still see this team being in the playoffs as well barring a complete disaster, but what's it really going to matter if we are a WC team in a loaded AFC conference?
McD has proven he's not a true wartime playoff coach and there's a reason why he's 0-4 lifetime on the road in these games. There's also a reason the 90's Bills teams made 4 straight SB's and why KC also made 2 in recent years. Pretty sure that the Pats and Brady had home field throughout in the playoffs for all but 2 of their 9 SB trips as well, it's because playing at home matters and that's what this team needed this year for any real shot at a SB before the current window starts to close quickly.

Keenum did it last year twice with a crappy Browns team. He went 2-0 as a starter with a 95 qbr for those games. If he can put up similar numbers as we adjust down our offense, the D will have to rise up. We'll have to beat the Vikings kinda like the Jets beat us.
No matter what the Beane cult worshippers believe, he whiffed big time on Saffold (and resigning Bates).
Also I get that Beasely is done and wanted out of Buffalo anyway, but idea that a proven failure like McKenzie and/or injury prone player like Crowder were going to magically pick up that production is short sighted at best.
Knox extension also very questionable at this point.
With all that said yes this team is still 6-2 and the top seed in the AFC for the moment, but one more loss and the luster and potential of this season starts to diminish exponentially as does the misguided belief that Beane is some kind of genius.

We beat the Vikes hands down. When the team leader gets hurt people step up-it’s human nature. We will get through this 3 game joshless stretch at worse 2-1.
maybe I hope eternal but This is usually how it goes. When you have a leader like Allen people respond.

Let's face it, the Bills will never take the easy road. Can’t just cruise along and win the division.

I hope I’m wrong but from what I’ve seen of Keenum in a Bills uniform I have 0 faith in him to win us a game while 17 is healing up….
Buffalo’s defense on average has allowed 14.8 ppg season total and 19 ppg for the last 3 games. I’m pretty confident Keenum/Diggs and company can produce 2 TDs and a FG, but the sweet spot would be 21 points. We will see how good of a coordinator Dorsey really is and whether he can manufacture a few TDs minus Allen. I expect them to throw in some Jet sweeps/reverses and rely heavily on running/field position game. A defensive or special teams TD would be absolutely huge in determining the outcome. OP got some flack, but he’s right that this is a very important AFC game.
think our ceiling with Case is probably 21-24 points.
We need a big effort from the D this week.
We need a big effort from the D this week.
Watch Keenum go 24 for 30 for 350 yards 3 TD's and 0 INT's. Bills win 31-17. With all the gloom and doom you know this will happen. This is the game to get the running game going. Hopefully Singletary can get 25 or so carries for 100 yards or more with a TD or two.
We’re only halfway through the season. The playoff picture will likely change several times before the year is over.
Let’s relax and hope the boys get it done on Sunday, but either way there is still a long way to go. Holding the tie breaker against KC, Tennessee, and Baltimore doesn’t hurt either.

You’re not being realistic, you go immediately to worst case scenario. You assume all bad will happen to the Bills and then also assume that the teams around the Bills are all somehow going to go undefeated the rest of the season. maybe that makes you feel better about yourself, but there’s not a lot of reality in what you’re saying. If you were being realistic, you would’ve broken down the other teams like you have the Bills, you will see that they have ugly wins and/or losses, and you’d be objective about what you’re seeing. Granted, being objective for anyone on here is not likely, but the way you and some others are handling these threads after the Jets loss is making you guys look bitter.
This season could’ve been something IF we stayed healthy. Oh well, better luck next year.
After losing to the Jets and Dolphins in the way they did, I’m not sure you can just say the Bills will run the table even if Josh plays. Vikings have a solid run game and playmakers on offense. Without Josh, I don’t see the Bills winning. Cleveland won’t be an easy game, Detroit can score and the Pats play tough D and have a solid running game. This team has had way too many injuries and it’s having an impact. For all the draft picks and money invested in the DL, they’re not imposing their will. Additionally they continue to make way too many self inflicted mistakes. The loss to the Jets was almost identical to last years loss to the Jags. I was hoping we’ve learned but evidently we didn’t. Similar to how we let KC score a FG right before half again.
The D has yet to really dominate this year. Heck even Pickett had 300 yards passing.

Happy to see the Cook brothers getting ready to square off. With that said, I hope that our run defense gets fixed this week.
Vikes have NFC title in mind. I’m very glad we get them at home!
Here’s to Diggs going off against his old team, 3TDs plz.
I’m glad we’re all back to nervous energy. The positivity felt wholly unnatural.
Yep, we're the same.
At the half-ish way point we only have 2 losses and they are both on the road. Need to win the conference and get home field advantage, can't fall behind KC.
We need to worry about the Division right now, not the Conference. We are only a half game up in the loss column on both Miami and NY, while they're both 2-1 in the Division and we're 0-2.
We are 1 loss away from being in 3rd place in our own Division.

Minny is very beatable. I would honestly compare them to the Phillies team that just went to the World Series.
They are literally getting every break under the sun. See the Commanders yesterday.
Ultimately a team like the Houston Astros was just better than them. Same way as this game.
The Bills are much better team at home. I’d be shocked if the Bills don’t take their Jets aggressions for the next week out on these guys.

Good news...Vikings are relatively poor on defense at 26th in the NFL.
lot of takeaways though - and buffalo is 28th in turnovers this year. 6-2 and we've turned it over in every game but 1. Allen has got to clean that up.
4 bad picks in the last 2 games. Allen fumble in miami probably the difference there as they got the ball at our 6 (missed protection but still). Turnovers put them in the hole in baltimore (say what you will about the tip and knox effort, but thats a pretty tight hole to be throwing a pass in your own territory on 3rd down). Weird pitch in KC took points off the board. Games 10-10 at half because of the pick in the rams game.
He needs to be smarter, take better care of the football, and take what the defense gives him at times.

They’re celebrating like that after barely beating the Commanders?
All that Matters is that Allen is 100% and only misses 4 games or less. I couldn’t care less about this upcoming game.
It’s so funny I totally forgot Diggs used to play for the Vikings.
Cousins can be scary. He's a capable QB, but generally not fear-inducing. Still, every once in awhile he really seems locked in and plays at an elite level.
You are what your record says you are and the Viking are 7-1. This is going to be a tough game.
Don’t forget it’s Frazier’s old team, as well. 2010-2013. Brett Favre, Christian Ponder, Matt Cassel/Josh Freeman (shudder)
Not that he was, overall, a great HC - but at QB, it must be acknowledged they didn’t give him a lot to work with.

Cousins loves coming up small in big games. Bills by 10.
I still think the Bills have the capability to beat every other team in the NFL. There were a number of things that went wrong in the Jets game. Of course, we all know about Josh's interceptions and some other poor throws. The Jets CBs were really strong in their coverage too. On defense, there was a lot of sloppy tackling for the Bills. I also thought that Jaquan Johnson struggled in substitution for Poyer.
Looking ahead to the Minnesota game, I think the coaches need to get the team to re-focus. Winning streaks, like the Bills had, are hard to extend because players can start to think that quality performance has become automatic. Now that players have been reminded that it isn't automatic, the coaches have to remind them that they can perform at a high level, and remind them that they can still achieve their goal of winning the Super Bowl. They just have to re-focus. Getting Tre White back will help too, as will getting their other wounded players back. I expect Spencer Brown and Jordan Poyer will be able to go next Sunday. Maybe Milano too.

Allen sitting for 4 weeks would absolutely be terrible news. You could pretty much kiss a realistic chance to reach the Super Bowl goodbye.
Just need to make the playoffs, then it is on. Giants beat the 18-0 Patsies and barely made the playoffs that year.
Sure, those things happen from time to time but the Bills best chance to reach the Super Bowl will be a first round bye and two home games to advance. Anything less than a Super Bowl championship is a failure for the 2022 Bills.
Has anyone noticed that there's only 5 teams in the NFC with winning records, 3 of those teams are in the East, Hawks and Vikings are the other 2. 9 teams in the AFC are above .500.
Vikings have only 1 win vs a team above .500 (they beat a Tua-less Fish), and only 1 of their 7 wins was by double digits (GB 23-7). They've barely beaten a bunch of bad teams.

I just don’t believe Kirk Cousins can duel it out with Allen (if he can stop throwing ridiculous interceptions.) Even if we put them even at offense, Vikings defense is trash so Bills still get the edge there. If they can pull this off it will be a HUGE ego boost knocking off a 7-1 team. Just stop turning the ball over!
They can win with Keenum. He is fine as a short-term solution. If Allen is out for a long period of time, then we are screwed.
Cousins completed 22 passes of 40 the other day, but went 9 for 9 to Hockenson for 70. He’d only been there 4 days.
Another pia TE for the D.
Another pia TE for the D.
I do not see us winning this game. We have many weaknesses and they are too easy to take advantage of. Beane screwed the pooch not getting Oline help and getting another RB we do not need. (Cause our Oline sucks) This team has been showing its problems for weeks and now even marginally good teams are taking advantage of us like we are rag dolls.
Very interesting. Their record in close games is excellent so we shall see if they are real or pretenders.
A healthy Allen and I am confident. A limited Allen, or no Allen, and this is a close game.
A healthy Allen and I am confident. A limited Allen, or no Allen, and this is a close game.
I truly believe it's a lack of focus that accounts for sloppiness and a missing "edge"
Same thing happened last year. Remember the Schopps of the world gleefully having the stat geeks on to talk about Allen's "regression"? He was good, but there were stretches where it got a bit ugly and seemed like the offense was broken.
Then, the playoffs started and we never seemed to punt and Allen and the offense looked unstoppable.
IMO, we're to the point where most regular season games are games to get through without injuries and a W so that we can get to the REAL games.

I was really not looking forward to this game. But now that it may be the Epic Keenum-Diggs Revenge Fantasy blockbuster we’ve all been waiting for, count me in!
That’s my biggest concern too, if Allen plays. Our O-Line is average at best. It doesn’t do Allen many favors, and he’s usually able to mask it.
Will also be interesting to see Vikings D game plan. Seems every team gives Allen the short passes and tries to takeaway the deep balls and chunk plays. If he’s gimpy, wonder if they’ll stack box and take away the running game and short passes… essentially making Allen have to go deep to beat them…

Let's keep in mind this Vikings team has the weakest strength of schedule and one of the weakest strength of victory. Even that is inflated based on beating a Bridgewater led Phins team.
We can win this can even without Allen.
We can win this can even without Allen.
Any injury to Josh’s throwing arm is a potential disaster. In my struggle to find anything positive out of the disgusting last 6 quarters, it’s that if Josh can play, maybe he and Dorsey will be forced to emphasize the short game more. Josh has been forcing it for 6 quarters. He’s giving up the easy short stuff again for tight window throws on bracketed receivers further down the field. If he can play, I don’t think the game plan will be constant downfield throws. Heck, Dorsey may even be forced to run the ball a little. I’ll say it again, this team needs an effective running game to go far in the playoffs. They abandon it too quickly and IDK if that’s Josh switching up the plays or Dorsey being pass happy. The O needs to be fixed quick and that includes putting receivers on the field who actually catch the damn ball. I’m getting sick of Davis dropping balls that a competent #2 would catch. I love his potential but I hate that he has a breakout game then disappears for 3-4 games then pops up again.
So sick of injury reports that read like a goddamn novel. I'm at a point where I really am starting to not care about the rest of the regular season. Don't care about Josh mvp. Don't care about the one seed. Don't care about the division. Just get to the playoffs. And wake me up in January when hopefully the best player in the league will be healthy, and anything can happen.
Sorry, I'm not usually negative Nancy, but if keenum starts, I expect the bills to lose by 14. I watched enough of keenum with a fairly talented Browns team to know he's not that good. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I'm not even gonna get pumped up for this game if keenum starts. Not sure what others have seen from him that makes them think he can be good. He had one good season in Minnesota 5 years ago
the vikings needed a last second FG to beat Andy FREAKING dalton, they beat a bridewater led fins team by one score, and then had to come back from 17-7 last week in the 4th to yet another backup qb in washington. not to mention they beat the bears by just one score when fields was playing like steaming dog crap...chill man.... keenum went 2-0 last year, completing 65% of his passes for 3td and just 1 int. this game is dicey but plenty winnable with keenum under center.
You’re not wrong. Keenum isn’t going to put the team on his shoulders and win games. But I do have faith he can do the little things and hit some open receivers and check downs. Buffalo has some run after catch potential. It’ll need to be a full team effort to make him effective. Dorsey will need some more creativity as well.
Instead of focusing on our ailments, let’s look at the Vikings defensive strengths and deficiencies, and see how this might play into the Bills potential game plan, with or without, Josh Allen:
Below are a few Vikings defensive rankings in comparison to the rest of the league:
Rush Yards Per Game (10th)
Pass Yards Per Game (27th)
Points Allowed Per Game (12th)
Total Sacks (9th)
- Za’Darius Smith leads the team with 8.5 and Danielle Hunter has 5
Thoughts -
It seems that the Vikings statistically have a middle of the road defense, who has shown the ability to create turnovers and get to the QB with their two main pass rushers. Their LBs (Kendricka/Hicks) are older, yet athletic, veteran players, as well as some of their secondary (Peterson/Smith).
Regardless of who is at QB, I would like to think that Dorsey can create a more horizontal attack than we’ve seen in the last few games. I want to put pressure on those edge rushers early, and create match ups with those LBs with some of our speedier guys (McKenzie, Hines, Cook).
I would hope to see some bubble screens and jet sweeps early while sprinkling in full-motion and misdirection later on to try and get this defense moving laterally. This can slow a pass rush, or avoid it entirely, if you are successful early. It also provides Allen or Case quick and reliable targets to get into a rhythm. Easier said than done, especially if they stick to a traditional 3-4 alignment. We’ll need WRs carrying a large blocking load, and Davis has proven capable in this role.
I don’t anticipate a large philosophical pivot if Keenum plays. They aren’t changing up front, so they won’t all of a sudden be built to run the ball down the throats of the defense. Find ways to get our players a competitive advantage, with or without Allen, through alignment, misdirection, and pre-snap formations to identify match ups that use speed and angles to find success.
Im just going to leave this here:
Nyheim Hines 40 yard dash time? 4.38

I just cannot find a way this game goes to the Bills if Allen doesn't play. Keenum is a JAG at QB and the defense is banged up. The Bills also have very little running game to speak of, so we can't fall back on that. Hope I am wrong on Sunday as I will be watching as always!
I'm now oddly at peace with the fact that Josh probably is out this Sunday. A ball control game with a stout defensive effort can win this game. A lot of swing passes to Hines and Cook, some hard running by Singletary and a Milano/Miller-led fired up defense are all key. Oh, and a loud Ralph is also needed (but that's a given). Let's get the win and start getting the walking wounded back on the field vs. Cleveland.
If the Jets can beat the Bills with Zach Wilson, the Bills can beat the Vikings with Case Keenum.
Thoughts on their thoughts?!?!
