Cousins returns with a 6-1 record. How do the Commanders fans feel about that and this game? Let's dive in...

This game will really test our D. As long as the bad Kirk shows up we should be good. Vikes D is ranked 16th in passing yards allowed while our D is at 29. Our O should be able to score on them as well but still won't be enough to win.
Picking us to lose until they prove they can beat a team with a winning record

I can't get out of my head how the Vikings got slapped around by Philly worse then we did and hasn't beaten a team with a winning record except the dolphins when they broke their 2nd string QB and beat up on their 3rd string QB (still a single score game).
Vikings may run away with their division, but they still seem soft as kashmir to me. Even in the event they do beat us and we don't get our revenge, can of whoopass waiting for them next week in Buffalo (so they might mess up and look past us as well).

...in terms of points per game allowed, Vikes' D is ranked 14th, and Commanders' D is ranked 15th
What I love so much about Kurt Cousins... is his ability to throw the Game Winning TD, in overtime no less....
We WIN this one just because they are 6-1 and because they have Kaptain Klutch... Curt Cousins!

Kirk, and really the entire Vikings team, have under-performed so far this season. They could easily be 4-3 or 3-4.
According to passing yards allowed per game, the Commanders' D ranks 16th. The Vikes' D ranks--wait for it--29th lol...their defense has allowed more passing yards in 7 games than we have in 8 games.
Just another side note: apparently the Vikings are only favored by 3, which is surprising...and in their last 7 away games they have failed to cover the spread 5 times.
Well, 3 ways to look at it.
1. Lose to the Vikes 37-17 and some will give you the " I told you so" while snapping their tendons patting themselves on the backs.
2. Lose to the Vikes 23-20 and some will give you the " so TH couldn't pull it out against a team with a winning record " while snapping their tendons patting themselves on their backs.
3. Win vs the Vikes and you get the " oh the Vikes were a soft and fake winning team destined to collapse " while scratching their heads as to how it could have happened.
Fandom has turned into cynicism, even by some intelligent people, but because a certain player, coach or owner is someone they despise { for whatever reason } they have to crap on the others' parade, even to go as far as rubbing it in their noses beating on their own chests/breasts at how they were correct.
Can't everyone simply accept the fact that this organization is handicapped due to a bad owner, bad coaching staff and players who are not top-ranked players without a big arm, blazing speed or ability to be like glue on an opposing WR and at least fake it a little { if you really feel so narcissistic to try and prove you're right } and just be happy that you're alive, breathing air, enjoying food and drinks, and being with family and/or friends to enjoy moments together?
Is it really THAT damn hard?

Just finished watching the Arizona-Minn game.
Sadly, they are a much better team than us. Their running game is pretty solid.
Cousins...is Cousins. If he has one of those terrible games he's prone to, they'll just spam Cook over and over again.
This game will expose our dirty underwear, I'm afraid.

I believe if we bring Howell in now we get to playoffs easily.
TH just don’t have the ability to win against the remaining good teams we have left. Howell does have that ability. Vikings, 2 against Giants, Dallas and Phili again.
thats 5 losses with TH. 3 wins if we have Howell in.
with TH Vikings 35 Skins 17
with Howell Skins 38 Vikings 35

The NFL hasn't had a 5th round QB amount to anything in at least 10-12 years...I can't figure out why anyone would be so confident that Howell will be that one 5th round QB who can be inserted on this team his rookie season, and "easily" guide them to the playoffs.
Captain Kirk is gonna whoop us.

I'm in Vikings country. They are overconfident, and they have a history of losing bad to weaker teams. Vikings lose this one in another upset.
The Vikings pass defense(on paper) is actually one of the worst the Commanders have faced so far this season. This is where I wonder if Heinicke at QB sort of hinders what Scott Turner ultimately would want to do wiith a stronger-armed QB under center. We have seen enough Heinicke to know what the game plan will be, regardess of the defense they are facing. Does Heinicke's limitations make it less of a challenge for a secondary, even the ones not ranked very high? Maybe they will be looking to serve up a heavy dose of the run game early to catch the Vikings defense napping that way they bite on some play action later on?
Also, the defense could have a bigger test this week against the Vikings offense. I am not sure how good the Vikes O-line is, but Cousins melts under pressure, so if the Front 4 aren't collapsing the pocket enough early, this might be the game JDR has to use an extra rusher or two at times to knock Cousin's timing & balance off. Don't allow him time to sit back there in the pocket comfortably.

Head: Vikings 31, Commanders 20
The Vikings simply have as explosive an offense the Commanders defense has had to play so far this year. I just don't see how this Heinicke-led offense can keep up, even with the Commanders defense playing much better as of late.
Gut: Vikings 24, Commanders 23
The Commanders defense creates a few more turnovers this week and helps the sputtering offense out a bit, but there just isn't any 4th quarter magic this time.
Liver: Commanders 31, Vikings 20
"Drink up, shoot in--let the beatings begin!" The Commanders have finally hit their stride and the Vikings possibly get caught peeking ahead to their upcoming showdown with the Bills next week.
Ill go with my Head this week...

The great news is Kirk Cousins could look like a world beater one week throwing 4 TD passes and 0 interceptions. The next week he is awful throwing 0 TDs and 3 picks. He is a bipolar QB week to week and you never know what your going to get. It looks like you guys might get the bad Kirk Cousins this week as he had a great game against Arizona last week. They had to come from behind trailing by 14 at home against the Lions to win, they blew a 21-3 lead at home against Chicago but still won 29-22. They beat the third string Miami QB on the road only by a TD. They dominated the Packers in the first half but second half they didnt score hardly at all. They still won 23-7. They got dominated in the first half by Philly but held them scoreless in the 2nd half, lost that one 24-7. They pulled off a last second victory over the Saints in London. Who knows they could be a really good team getting ready to hit their peak.
Really tell me how Cousin's has been bipolar? Cousins has thrown 5 INTS this year. Josh Allen has thrown 6; Mahomes has thrown 5; Mahomes completion % is 66.9 and Cousin's is 66.3. Josh Allen is 66.5%. Since they are all "winning" I just thought I would throw it out there. They have about 300 yards more in passing. So, yes Cousins has less yards, then both of them. But he is NOT an INT machine. I just decided to take two top QB's with decent records, that are winning and compare them. And Brady has only 1 INT, a 65.9 completion %, and a QB rating comparable to Cousin's. But his team is struggling. Regardless of how much fans put on the QB it is a team sport. Cousins has been solid this year except against the Eagles. The Eagles are a well-rounded team this year, and while that sickens me, because I can't stand them, their D is excellent, and their O is excellent too. But if you look at the stats for Hurts, they are comparable to Cousins, except Hurts only has 2 INTS.
A good game plan without the cutesy fancy trickery is best. The Vikings d-line will be putting pressure and the Comms o-line couldn't block a bunch of grandmothers from getting to the QB so designed roll-outs and scrambles can help to keep them off kilter. Logan Thomas has all but disappeared, so some other TE will need to step up and make some plays.
If the defense can keep an eye on Cousins they can pick off some passes; at times he tends to throw low enough for them to be tipped at the LOS and the DBs/safeties HAVE to take a peek if they want a chance at snagging an int., but this is why they're not getting picks, they're only focusing on the WRs' motions only.

Skins aren't playing a QB in his debut this week. (And they needed a miracle to beat that QB.)

Is the BRob train over??
It was quite an amazing turn of events. You know the story. Gibson looked like crap in preseason and fumbled. BRob comes in and looks MUCH better. All hailed the new king before the game ended. Gets shot. Suddenly, Gibson looks great running the ball again. BRob finally comes back and just doesn't look the same he did in his first preseason game. A starter can't lose his job to injury /s blah and now Gibson is the man once again killing it both running and catching.
Unless Gibson is being used as a WR with our injuries I think he should be our RB1. BRob rusty or simply not quite the same toting the mail should almost be expected. Note: I did miss the Indy game and maybe BRobs performance/usage wasnt his fault.

It's sealed by a Kirk Cousins Red Zone pick.

I keep hearing “revenge game” for Kirk. But, the thing is, this isn’t the first time he’s faced us since leaving. We played them in 2019, and they won 19-9. He got his revenge with a W already, yes? What more revenge does he need….

i think vikings are beatable and aren't as good as their record indicates. i'd feel better if chase played, however unlikely, to add the disruption at the line. i'm hoping the snyder stuff gives the boys a little extra pep in their step.
Not sure how this news of selling the team will effect the players and their play on Sunday. Hopefully they are energized for a win regardless.

I feel like the ‘revenge’ talk might be focused on the wrong person… Kevin O’Connell is gonna be motivated to mop the floor with us. No telling how that plays out, but it’s going to be interesting.
Barring some surprising turnovers by the Vikes, I expect their offense to have their way with us and our offense to struggle to score (per usual).

Not the best metric probably (and obviously there’s context involved), but our offense has had 5 3-and-outs the past two weeks. To give a bit of a reference point to that - the Vikings have had 14.
Not directed at you: I think this game’s a good test for us, in terms of having a better feel for where we’re at. Since Turner started talking about running the ball more, we ran well vs a pretty inept CHI, didn’t run much vs TEN (which I’m guessing came in large part due to our 3rd down woes), faced the worst run D (Packers), then an ok Colts team with a first time NFL qb. Point being, comparing this game to the TEN game might be informative (to some extent). 2 pretty decent-good, and somewhat balanced, teams.

Interesting so the last two games Heinicke is 67.2% completion, 480 yards, 240 ypg, 7.5 ypa, 4 total tds, 2 ints, and 91.9 rating against the 2nd and 11th best passing defenses in the league is going to be so bad Sunday that he can’t sustain drives against a defense that ranks 28th in pass yards per game and 28th in overall ypg? Kirk Cousins is at 66.6 %, 1734yya, 6.6 ypa, 11 tds to 5 ints with a 90.7 rating is gonna be so good Sunday that he’s going to light up a defense giving up 14.5 pts per, 292 yards per, 29% on third down, 12 sacks and 5 turnovers over last 4 games.
I just don’t think the Vikings are as good as their record suggests. The 4 Vikings fans I work with would tell you the same. Their wins have come against teams a combined 18-29. One of those wins being against a tua-less dolphins team. Not saying our opponents are world beaters or anything just saying they haven’t been some juggernaut is all.
I think best case scenario, the D-line terrorizes Cousins into making a couple of bad throws, leading to turnovers. Hopefully one or both are deep in Vikings territory which gives the offense a short field.
I think the main thing for me, going into every game where Heinicke is the QB, is trying to figure out what a realistic amount of points the offense will score vs how few points the defense will give up. I know in a round about way that is just common sense, but what I mean is, I don't really see Heinicke as the kind of QB that can win a game that ends up a shoot out or just a regular higher scoring game, so this game really comes down to if the defense can make things managable for the offense. Our last 3 opponents haven't been very good on the offense. Aaron Rodgers was the exception but he basically was throwing to a RB for his #1 WR option the entire game. The Vikings are an actual good offense and will be a much more stringent test to see how much the defense really has improved verus playing some not so hot offenses.
Given Cousins history when he is being pressured consistently, I definitely think it's possible to win a 20-17 type game, but if the mistakes, blown coverages are made by the defense and the Vikes end up scoring closer to 27-30 points, I don't have much confidence in the offense scoring enough to win.

IMHO, Vikings receiving group is better than Washington's pass defense, and Cousins can make the medium-to-long throws to allow them to make explosive plays. However, Washington's D-Line is better than Vikings O-line, which may deny Cousins the time for those plays to become available. Vikings may find ways to exploit Bostic (with Cook, Thielen, or Hockensen) So I see Vikings still being able to put up points on Washington's increasingly improving defense.
Washington O-line is improving slightly to "fair" and unless Vikings D-Line steps up (they have some talent, but not that great), Washington should be able to sustain the typical Turner mix of short passes and running plays -- resulting in long drives to further wear down the Vikings D for the 2nd half "McLaurin magic" to make it big contributions. (To be sure, the Vikings will be scheming to deny McLaurin as a target for Heinicke all day.). I think Samuel and Gibson will have big yardage totals -- but the moment of truth will be the red-zone.
Special teams are about equal. Maybe Washington will have a real home-field advantage, if the crowds are pumped up due to the "off-the-field" news. An advantage for Washington is Vikings don't seem to play as well on grass. Both sides about equal with their problems with drive-killing penalties and turnovers -- let's face it, no one can predict how the refs are going to call the game.
Prediction: A close game -- even if Vikings go up early, their opponents always seem to be able to catch up -- winding up in a close game. Vikings D is not that great but I give the edge to a Minnesota victory especially if their line-backing group to can do a halfway decent job to contain the Turner outlet passing game. I suspect that Cousins will find a way get in a few more explosive plays, and I've noted Vikings have good record of success in the red-zone. (I think Fuller can be exploited for some of those explosive plays.) Both coaches have their teams engaged and playing well -- O'Connell seems very innovative and can adapt quickly during the game time conditions. X-factor: I'm worried that if Hockensen can be worked into the game plan, then the combination of new Vikings TE and WR Thielen will allow the Vikings to frequently exploit Washington LB Bostic.
Vikings 31, Washington 27 (assuming Heinicke has good passing stretches for more than two quarters)

Our players and fans could make constant verbal references whenever Kirk is in earshot of our possible new team name: Prime Time and Cousins should wilt like a wet potato chip.
Thoughts on their thoughts?!
