I'm glad the coaches are saying hi in the hallways now so we no longer have to suffer through all the blown leads and nail biters. Culture FTW!!
Sarcasm aside, you're exactly right. Culture. Kirk Cousins and a talentless Defense didn't string together 3 come from behind victories in a row against lesser Teams last season. The Wilfs said 'run it back'. But it's still Kirk Freaking Cousins and a Talentless Defense. That just won 3 games in a row when they trailed in the 4th Quarter.
This Team doesn't hang their heads when they end up in holes that they dug for themselves. Captain Indecision starts making plays. The Mash Unit RB grinds out some YAC. The talentless Defense finds a way to make a play.
And most of this wouldn't be needed if Greg Joseph hadn't turned back into a damn pumpkin.
But the ceiling is damn low. It seems like Kyle Shanahan could walk in the door tomorrow and Kirk would still find a way to make sure the Offense stalls out for a quarter or sometimes two.
I hate to say 'I told you so' but productive veteran Pass Rushers were out there deep into FA while folks were worrying about TE or Slot Corner depth.
This is a 8-9 or 9-8 Team with an easy schedule that should still yield 10 wins...and get stomped in the Playoffs. That was the ceiling the previous 2 years but they didn't reach that ceiling. The difference this year? Culture.
I think you keep confusing luck with culture. As I keep pointing out: injury luck (for and against) and penalty luck (for and against). Culture is sustainable; these things aren't.
As it stands today, next week we play a once-hot Dolphins team starting their 7th-round rookie QB3, and Tyreek Hill is in a walking boot. ...culture?!
Has minimal to do with culture, and a lot to do with good fortune. If the culture was truly different, these close games would've been comfortable 7+ point wins. Again, same team, much better luck.
