He had all the same speed and athleticism in college, and was used little outside the return game. I don't know the reason, but why would anyone expect him to have an easier time contributing in the more complex pro game? He's another case of Spielman valuing workout numbers over football ability.
That is why I didn't like Nwangwu as a 4th round pick, but the main appeal was going to be on special teams (KR / gunner). It is true that he was barely used even in college, but still, I don't see why we couldn't have a couple packages on offense just to utilize his speed, even as a decoy. It's not like a Patterson situation, but it feels like they could be doing more.
I didnt like KJ last year,
Despite him putting up 50-655-7 as a third WR in Kubiak's scheme? Sure, maybe it wasn't wise to predict KJ to become the #2 WR and have over 1000 yards receiving (as 2 or 3 people in the PPA contest predicted), but there has to be more there. I can't believe that 2021 was a complete mirage for him.
That was another tease of the offseason, that Cook would get split out in bunch formations and other receiving opportunities. Hasn't materialized.
This happens all the time in the fantasy realm, team goes "we're going to start using our starting RB as a WR!" and people take notice, then it never materializes.
