Cine was expected to pass Bynum at some point, or at the very least play in some 3 safety packages. I thought the consensus was more on the side of Cine filling a need in the secondary since Bynum had only started 2 games... and Smith was restructured to where he is most likely back in 2023, so then in that scenario Cine doesn't start until 2024. Not exactly a good strategy, considering we had the #12 pick at one point.

We need to be patient, yes, but I think our Spielman PTSD is kicking in because this is one-for-one how many years went, including last year.

1-9: LT Charles Cross - starting
2-40: DE Boye Mafe - rotational pass rusher
2-41: HB Kenneth Walker III - starting
3-72: RT Abraham Lucas - starting
4-109: CB Coby Bryant - starting nickel CB
5-153: CB Tariq Woolen - starting CB (looks like a freaking stud)

That's obviously a very extreme example and not comparable to the Vikings, since the Seahawks tore parts of their roster down... but what I do find concerning is that two guys who were consensus 1st round picks by the evaluators, Cine and Booth, haven't come close to cracking the lineup when healthy. As one who was defending the Waynes and Treadwell picks when people were complaining about how they weren't playing, well, sometimes taking the patient approach makes you look stupid in hindsight.

I think it's fair criticism but the story isn't over 8 games in obviously. Injuries haven't helped either. I still think Booth will get more playing time. Same with the rookie LB.
