What they're saying...
Another very tough game though we've owned them in the last decade. Cousins if he gets hot will shred us. We should run a lot to keep their offense off the field. Right now it feels like we're going to lose but hopefully I'll come around by the end of the week as I did last week.
I assume we will double Jefferson?
I assume we will double Jefferson?
Not sure what to make of the Vikings, Cousins routinely puts up good stats and loses, Jefferson I'm sure will kill us and Reagor will somehow make a huge play which will be a game winner.
Definitely don't want this to be a shoot out so I agree with the ground early and often...just need to finish drives early and often. I don't trust Gannon to apply pressure to make this game competitive.
Got to be tougher and more assignment keyed. I like our corners. But, I think with Jefferson and Theilen, they need a sound scheme to cover both. Cook cannot be covered by a LB. Nor can he be arm tackled. They really need to watch as much film on how Cousins can get erratic, like any QB who is bothered by pressure. Cousins is prone to toss up some gifts ripe for the picking.
Have to keep it in perspective:
Their offense looked like an unstoppable juggernaut…. Until you realize they finished the game scoring as many points as we had halfway through the second quarter.
Packers always start the season slow, don’t have the receivers we do, and don’t have close to the run game we do.
Stop Dalvin Cook, double Jefferson and it’ll come down to Kirk Cousins and his 8-17 primetime record.

The Vikings are just as good as the Eagles. And just as bad. They had a much nicer win though.
I'm just worried about whether our defense can get off the field on third downs. I fear that Cousins is going to have 400+ yards and have all day to throw
The Vikings are going to put up a ton of points on this soft defense.
What am I supposed to think of them? What have they ever done?
It would be nice if the eagles defense could not allow the vikings to drive straight down the field for a TD on their first drive like the lions did and most teams seemed to do last year. Gannon needs a better plan to start the game. One of these games maybe he will start it out right.
Their RB is top 5, and their WR2 is some guy called Adam Thielen. I remember the last time we underrated the Vikings and we got smoked.
Eagles gotta get to Cousins and force him into mistakes. The offense has to score early and often to make the Viking one dimensional. This is going to be a tough game especially if the Eagles are still working out all of their problems. Can’t keep having these presnap penalties and giving up so much pressure on our quarterback. Both lines have to be better than they were in Detroit.
Unfortunately that may not matter. We had a 17 point lead in the 3rd quarter, but Detroit never had to abandon the run since our defense was so shiddy. I’m also not sure asking them to throw to Jefferson and Thielan is the best thing for us either lol.
Well giving it to Cook is no picnic too. At least we have three really good corners, but none of that will matter if the front guys don’t get home. Cousins has always played the Eagles tough. I don’t think we have beaten the Vikings since that playoff game. This isn’t an easy matchup for the Eagles in any way.
Agreed on all counts. We haven't beaten them since. 0-2. I think their offense is going to have a good night against our D. I'm curious to see how we do against theirs.
I don't like this game. The Vikes are tough running and passing the ball. This could end up being another shootout where the Defense gives up huge yards.
This game will come down to turnovers, and red zone efficiency.
Ultimately, special teams may be the deciding factor.

I think many fans didn't take the Lions seriously enough, and on the other hand, I think many fans are taking the Vikings too seriously.
I think it's either them or the Bucs as the best team in the NFC. If the Eagles win they will fully deserve to be in that conversation.
I thought before the season that these two teams were final four NFC quality and week 1 conformed it. Cousins is Cousins, but with this HC and JJ he's set up for a career year where most people will have him as high as 7th-8th in the Qb power rankings by season end. Eagles Defense is learning some new moves and it might cost them this game, but talent wise I like the Eagles matchups up front.
Cousins is 6-3 all time against the Eagles.
And he’s 2-9(!) on MNF, with the only two wins being against Chicago.
If our D doesn’t show up we’re doomed. I think we can move the ball on the Vikings, but that stink’n Cousins can move it on us. All that being said I think we’ll survive 23-21.
I don't trust this defense, even with a 2 TD lead.
Eagles are wearing all black because they are going to get buried.
They have to pressure Cousins. Simple as that. If he beats it then so be it. But you have to send extra rushers for a majority of the game.
Minnesota is very beatable. Their defense sucks every year. Sure, they have some good skill players but if you get pressure on Cousins, he will fold like a cheap suit. You just can’t let him sit back there and dink and dunk and then hit you with a big play downfield. This is the best group of corners we’ve had in a long time and I feel comfortable with the matchup. Gannon’s game plan is my biggest concern.
The Vikes simply looked better than we did. It would take a leap of faith to believe the roles will reverse this week. The simplest answer is that it will take us a few weeks to get our acts together and we are just meeting a team that is just further along right now.
I think we lose this game next week but likely wouldn’t lose it in November if healthy.

Opposing forces at work with the Vikings. The Eagles have had their problems with Cousins. But he sucks in Prime Time. I remember year's past where the Eagles had a strong opening day win on the road only to come home and lay an egg in week two. But the Eagles didn't have a strong win in Detroit - they held on after letting the Lions get too close. The Eagles also haven't beaten the Vikings since the NFCCG.
I think Minn. is the better team and the Vikes should win all other things being equal. But with the MNF game at the Linc, I would think the intangibles, if there are any, favor the Eagles.

This league is about timing, swings, matchups......Vikings coming off a beat down of their division rivals, Eagles home opener after not being sharp, the Vikings being "the better team", our defense looking like crap, everything kind of says the Vikings are going to beat us so....Eagles win!
You have to get pressure on Cousins or he’ll move the ball all day. This is my biggest concern, because I’m not convinced that Gannon can scheme well enough to put consistent pressure on a QB all game.
It's hard to gauge where the Vikings are, because the Packers were so horrible Sunday, but Reagor is their punt returner, so their special teams must suck ass.
Jefferson looks like an all timer (worst draft decision ever) and he was allowed to run wild on Sunday, he made most of his catches look like busted coverage, we can't let that happen, but our corners are better and definitely faster than Rasul Douglas.
I expect a tough game because we're still not properly game sharp but I think we can squeak this one.

Let’s not get too high on the Vikings because they beat up the Packers week 1 though. Green Bay also sucked ass in week 1 last year too.
I’m expecting the offense to put up plenty of points and I do think the pass rush will get going much more than last week. We’ll see, but I’ve got the Eagles in a shootout.
