What They're Saying...
Okay, just kidding... I added that one in there in anticipation of what I'm about to read.
Here we go...
Is this even real life? If you even breathe the same air as Rodgers you'll get a flag! They really need to get over that clean, legal hit from Barr. My goodness.

I hope there is a lot of Green and Gold, in their stands, at US Bank Stadium, just to show their new coach where the bear sh*ts!
Love to see Za'Darius do absolutely nothing.
I hope we wipe the floor with 55. he's magically got a chip on his shoulder, somehow - bc he didn't play all last year and got paid for it...and somehow, this was GB's fault...ok fine, rtfb right up at him when pettine lines him up the middle, i hope 74 wipes the floor with him.
I am guessing this new offense will try to get Jefferson into space to make plays much like Deebo. I'd make sure to hit him early and often...let the hits take the toll...
Just keep AR healthy. Cheap shots incoming.

Now Anthony Barr is on the Cowboy's PUP list, his career heading in a downward direction.
Rodgers coming off a second straight MVP season.
Karma baby.

My prediction for Sunday is a Vikings win, let's say about 23-17.
I still think the Packers will win the division, but the Vikings will have some new unscouted looks on offense with the new coaching staff, it's a road game, and it will be the first live game reps for Rodgers with a large percentage of his receiving corps. I'm worried we'll see a repeat of the first game last year when it looked like the Packers hadn't ever played together before.
I think it will take them 2-3 weeks to find their stride.

It appears MLF used the same protocol leading up to week one as he did last year. Why should we expect different results? With a 17 game season and 7 playoff teams per conference, treating week 1 as a pre-season game for the starters may not be unreasonable. It sure looked like the Packers were woefully unprepared for week 1 in 2021 and 2022 appears to be no different. The Packers won 13 games last season even with a game 1 farce prompting MFL to stick to the protocol. Considering the 2021 team started Jenkins, Tonyan and Adams and still stunk it up for 3 points, I would be surprised if the offensive output is any better on Sunday. While it's a regular season game, the Packers have showed the past two seasons that they don't have a home field advantage in the playoffs which puts even less of an emphasis to treat game 1 other than a glorified pre- season game.
That team is already chirping, paper champions never stop!
I think the Vikings will be our toughest of the 3 Division games on the Road. That said, this isn't going to be our usual middle of the road Packer Defense either. The Vikings have a bunch of Offensive weapons right now, maybe a top 8-10 type Offense? Although I think we have a top 5 Defense and most people who focus on our Offensive side of the ball are going to be in for a big surprise. It's not IF, its only WHEN will our D put it all together this season.
Why anyone would want this to be treated as a 4th preseason game is crazy to me. We’re talking about Vikings-Packers to kick off the season. A divisional game on the road. Can’t take this lightly. Every divisional game has got to be a win. Even a loss here could come back to bite us down the road this season. Lost the season opener to the Saints last year, no big deal. Can’t have that mindset against a divisional opponent.
Vikings have won two of the last three games against the Packers by wearing the Packers defensive front down...
But they have a smarter offensive play caller in there now, but usually it takes some time to adjust to a new scheme, and they got one on offense and defense... though Cousin has played in it before with the Redskins.
But I'm not sure the Vikings will be fully adjusted by week 1... though I'm not sure the Packers are ready for a healthy Danielle Hunter and Za'Darius Smith pass rush either especially with former Packers defensive coaches on their staff that might know Rodgers and LaFleur pretty well.
I'm thinking the Packers and Vikings split their games once again, I'm going to give the first one to the Packers.

If the Packers RG/RT combo is Hanson/Newman, I worry a bit about the matchups against Danielle Hunter and Z Smith.
I think the defensive fronts may have an advantage over the offensive lines in this game.

No matter how it shakes out, it shouldn’t be a dumpster fire. We have decent backup OL. They should be able to come up with a plan that takes some pressure off of Newman and allows the offense to succeed. We can run the ball and we can do some things to get the ball out quickly.
I like our chances in this game. Minnesota is working in a new offense and defense. We should have a little head start on them.

I’m curious to see Doubs and Watson. They’re both probably gonna have some packages. In an ideal world; Lazard, Watkins and Cobb will be the starters and then we can build packages for the rookies to really dial in on. Over the course of the season they can add a little more to their plates and by seasons end, we can have some things built in for the rookies that we do well.
I’m crossing my fingers for some receiver health. I just want to see the young guys eased in. We need some injury luck for that to happen. Rodgers will get frustrated quickly if the rookies have too much on their plate and can’t handle it.

R E L A X, People. In the past, it has taken panicky fools some kind of loss or bad event to go off the deep end. Now, incredibly, some are that far gone in advance hahahaha.
Yeah, "we" don't know who is starting in the O Line - we posters hahahaha. It's safe to say the coaching staff does. My view is that whoever we put out there in the O Line, we will be just fine.
And we're gonna lose - lose bad? Sheeeesh. This is the damn Vikings we're playing against, and this is probably the best all around Packer team in recent years - recent years where we went 13-3, 13-4, etc.
A repeat of last year's opening day debacle? Is there anybody in here who does not think LaFleur is a damn good coach? Undoubtedly he is drumming it in to the team this week not to let the sh*t of last year happen again, and absolutely this team ought to win/has better talent than last year/has better talent than the damned Vikings and pretty much anybody else in the league.

My guess is that this will be a particularly sloppy game. Vikes have a new coach and a new defense, and The Flower doesn't play his starters in the preseason, so there's every reason to think this game will feature a lot of busted plays, turnovers, and penalties. Especially false starts.
It can't possibly be the disaster last year's opener was. My wife and I watched the second quarter at a bar and went home. God, that was ugly.
I'm guessing that the Packer offense is sluggish, particularly in the passing game. There will be Rodgers' eye-rolling every third play, busted plays, backs getting eaten in the backfield. But I also think that the running game will carry the day at the end for the Packers, and that Packer defense will shut down Minny's new offense. I think Green Bay wins this one.

Watkins isn't Adams but he can do some of the same things. He'll be a starter. I think this will be a game where they really need Tonyan. I wonder if they elevate Winfree off the PS to do some dirty work things Lazard does.
I expect MLF to rotate Watson and Doubs in liberally. I don't expect Toure to play.
Probably will be a sloppy game but after last year's opener I think they'll be more focused as long as the defense hasn't been drinking its own Kool-Aid. The Vikings are moving away from ZimmerPower to more of the Rams 11 personnel stuff, which GB is actually pretty well suited to defend although they have players who can put up a lot of points.
OL will be important in this game handling the Z and the noise, and to open rush lanes for Jones/Dillon. I haven't seen if Bahk or Jenkins will play; I could see them both being held out (and off that turf) until next week. If they both sit I'd rather see Newman-Tom than Hanson-Newman on the right side.
Early season games are hard to figure out but this feels like a game GB should win by a slim margin.

History shows that whenever he hasn't had Davante, Rodgers spreads the round fairly equally to a lot of receivers, often 6 or 8 a game. I expect plenty of that with the Packers still being a pass-first offense and whoever has the least coverage getting targeted. Whether Lazard plays or not, I expect both young guys to get some big receptions.
I think this game can go either way. GB never plays well in MN. Plus GB seems to come out rusty out of the gate because starters don't see any pre-season action.
The Packers have turned into a notoriously slow starting team. I'm going to take the Vikings, 27-24. It's a last minute field goal that seals it, and Rodgers can't find anyone who can catch the ball and make big plays in a last second drive. Ahmed is doing the kicking. Crosby is not active.
It's either gonna be an ugly win or an ugly loss.... If they can make it out of this game without major injuries then it's a win.
We keep hearing about how good this defense could be this year.
This would be a good game to make a statement that says, "We have arrived".
Questions is, "Will they?"
The outcome of this game rests in the hands of the Packers defense, IMO.

Z Smith a little baby because GB did not ask about his back.
He was a diva also. Got pissed that he was not made a team captain (Player vote by the way) he made up a captain batch necklace. After back surgery stayed away team for most of season instead of rehabbing in GB.
He was a good player but coming off back surgery and his cap number GB was smart to get rid of him. He admits in article reason why he backed out of Ravens deal was he wanted revenge vs GB so signed with MN.

He also did not play the run very well and disappeared in the two NFC title games.
Not worth the money, IMO.
I think we can take care of him on Sunday.

I think the dangerous thing is that Z knows GB base and personal. Not a huge factor but something to keep in mind.
As was discussed on shout the other night, Rodgers needs to talk a lot less and play better more. Probably needs to be a blanket statement for the whole team. Everyone is 0-0 today, nobody needs to be talking smack.
I think GB wins this game by two scores but it'll be rough in that dome for most of the game.

I will be interested to see if the defense lives up to all the hype. They did play well in the playoff game last year and did show us how good they can possibly be.
Having said that, here are my keys to the Packers getting the win:
Defense
Being Physical- The Viking o-line is not particularly a physical group. The d-line and the LB's need to punch them in the mouth immediately to get the Vikings o-line on their heels. Then I think we can dominate up front.
Tackling- This defense does not have a glaring hole but tackling has been issues at times with this D. If we tackle well, then I believe this defense may give up less then 20 points to this offense and we have a good chance of winning.
Pressure- Of course, pressure Cousins on a consistent basis. Cousins tends to throw the ball up when he gets pressured. He is not super mobile but he can run at times. Make him uncomfortable.
Turnovers- This a given every game; however, it is more important with divisional games.
Offense
Balanced- Use Dillion and Jones running the ball and out of the backfield. Quick short passes. Dare I say use Amari at times as well? With Lazard out, I think this is the best way to attack the Vikings defense.
Protect AR- This is always a givenas well but even more so this week. If we can keep the inside protected for AR, then we can push Griffin and Smith out on the edges and let AR step up or run, if needed. Also, I think running off tackle to Z Smith's side is huge. He does not play the run well and he will be jacked up to get some sacks on AR. I think he overplays and gets out of position.
Spread The Ball- This is AR's debut without Adams. He needs to spread the ball around and get as many WR's, TE's and RB's involved as possible. The Vikings secondary is not great. Since Lazard is hurt, I can see Tonyan having a big day in his debut back.
Oh yeah and let's not forget about the not special Special Teams. hide)
I do not like to predict games or scores. I do not know what is going to happen Sunday. I am going to sit back and relax and ENJOY THE SEASON!

They play the horn when players manage to tie their own shoelaces without falling over, they couldn't possible play it any more.
Anyway, I'm surprised GB is slightly favored in this game, and that many are picking them. I wonder if people are overcomplicating it. GB got demonstrably worse on offense and MN is returning their offensive starters. GB's defense did get healthier and better. Defense drives playoff success but, unless a defense is completely putrid, offense drives regular season success. I kinda feel like MN is going win by a TD or better.
Being devil's advocate, how is the offense worse?
RB's are the same and more experienced.
Dillion
Jones
Amari Rodgers- Flex
PS Squad Players
O-line is ultimately the same.
Yosh played 9 games and did fine without Bak.
Runyan is another year experienced.
Meyer is another year experienced
Newman, I do not like but is another year experienced and should be a little better
Jenkins will be solid at RT but it looks like Tom could take that roll at some point. It seems like he will be just as good as Turner (who was average) that we released.
Depth is a little suspect at Guard with Hanson and Ryhan but other than that o-line is virtually very similar to last year.
QB
Same
TE's
The same again and actually Tonyan should be healthy this year. Then you have Lewis again and Davis who they like for some reason. :)
WR's
This may be the only position that is worse; however, we do still have Lazard, Cobb, and added Watkins. It looks like Doubs could be a diamond and Watson should really be very solid by mid-season.
We have only lost Adams and a lot of you have said that AR has eyes for Adams too much and focuses on only him at times. Now AR has the ability to spread the ball around, use RB's more, and defenses cannot just double Adams.

The ability to spread the ball is great but WR have to prove they can separate vs press coverage and read defenses. Adams was the only one capable of that last year
Not many in this league are of Adams caliber.
The success (or lack there-of) of the passing game is going to fall to ML’s ability to scheme people open AND to 12’s ability to spread the ball around in that scheme.
It remains to be seen if they can do that.

1. I guess I think Adams is just that good, and 2. whether talent is there or not, I just don't trust Rodgers or really this coaching staff to recognize it right away. I can see a couple weeks of forcing the ball to Cobb and Watkins while the rookies wilt, because that's just what Rodgers wants and who he trusts.
First game of the year after no pre-season, both teams I think are just going to be trying to simultaneously develop their game plans and identity but also win by hook or by crook. Davonte Adams and the connection with Rodgers is a massive X factor that way, even if the game plan goes out the window, those two could cobble together a string of plays. I just foresee something of a mess and some finger pointing after the fact.

The Skol horn reminds me of the vuvuzela horns at soccer games. They're insane!
I went to one big time soccer game at Bernabeau Stadium in Madrid, Spain years ago, and vowed I'd never go back. It's like listening to the endless sounds of insanity!!!!!! Then, there's the constant chants of; "Ole.... Ole... Ole! Ole, Ole! I had nightmares about that crap for years!
What is wrong with fans? Don't they have any creativity? Totally endless prattle!!!!
Anyhow, I know where I'd like to stick that damned horn!!!!

Thoughts on their thoughts?!?
