It's kind of a interesting move from the standpoint of where KOC and KAM stand on TE's in general. They either didn't think the TE position was all that important and changed their mind or they expected to get a lot more out of Irv and basically decided to give up on him. It might be a combo of both. I, hopefully, underplayed the importance of having at least someone pretty good at that spot. At least my thought was that Irv could be avg. and get us by. Not so much.

I'm liking this move more and more. They had to have gone to school over the bye and seen how little attention opposing defenses were needing to give KJ and AT. Now let's hope those guys get freed up more.

Interesting to think if they wouldve made this move if Irv didnt go done. My guess is probably not. I didnt think Hock was even a possibility or on the trade block so I was excited to see that alert. I think the TE position is really Kelce and Andrews then everyone else. Kelce is the clear best TE and no one near his level of production. But I think Hock has that ability in him to be close to that top tier. I was watching highlights yesterday and Hocks play was like nothing ive seen from the TE position we have had in years if ever in my lifetime at least (31 years old) Pretty much everything we hoped to see from Irv and in a bigger body. Im very intrigued to see how he fits in this offense. Even if his production doesnt show on the stats, I think at the very least hes going to open things up even more for our WRs. Almost like a pick your poison. I love the move.

There are 14 teams in the NFL with a positive net scoring differential so far this season. Of those 14, only 4 have a higher point differential than the Vikings.

1st: BUF +105
2nd: PHI +78
3rd: KC +51
4th: DAL +50
Tied for 5th: SF & MIN +29

Similar numbers if you look at net TDs. 14 teams total are positive in that metric, and only 5 of them are better than the Vikings.

1st: BUF +13
2nd: PHI +10
Tied for 3rd: KC, CIN, & DAL +8
6th: MIN +4

SF is +3, otherwise, the remaining 25 teams are +2 or worse.

Some great company to be in so far this season. Not an end all be all metric by any means, but last season 17 teams finished positive in net point differential, and all but 5 of them made the playoffs. For net TDs, there were 18 teams in the positive, and all but 6 made the playoffs. Zero division winners were negative or even close to negative in either of those metrics (avg +119.5 pts and +16 TDs). Only 2 teams made the playoffs with a negative in either metric and they were the Raiders and Steelers. Not surprising at all, and probably a good indicator that they would not last long in the playoffs.

The point was that he was a 25 year old rookie, meaning he's only in his second year despite being 26. He's barely played in the NFL and is already 2-3 years away from the end of his prime, which is one reason why he was a 7th rounder rather than a 5th/6th where I liked him at.
