Just to get this back on topic...one issue with Goodell possibly adding to the suspension as many are demanding is that the NFLPA could appeal, which means Watson could play until the appeal is decided.
I have to think for that reason that it will stand as a six game penalty. The league really wouldn't want the media heat surrounding him playing before he's served the suspension, even if it's not as long as they may want.
The real kicker is that Roger gets to hear the appeal.
Why? Because they said in advance of Robinson's decision they would not appeal it and urged the NFL to do the same. Reading between the lines they're pretty much saying let's all accept this unless you want a fight on your hands. If the NFL tries to lengthen the term, I suspect the NFLPA will be ready for a fight on principle irrespective of what Watson wanted or didn't want. And during that appeal, which might actually involve taking it to federal court, Watson and his wandering weiner could play. And Goodell and the league would eat the bad pub from the protracted fight keeping the whole thing in front of the public during the season, and having Watson on the field instead of serving his punishment. They're already sick of it being at the top of the NFL news cycle for months, they really want it to end.
If the NFL doesn't appeal by end of business today this is all moot, over and done with. Watson serves 6 games then is back in business. So I'll just predict they don't and be surprised if they do. I guess that would mean more public bickering and keeping the mess out front for all to see and criticize. Doesn't seem like smart p.r., maybe then I would recommend they hire p.r. experts like the Wilfs, guys who can convince you a perennial .500 team is a contender, you know, spin-cycle magicians!
