It didnt seem like Case was even a possibility to come back as crazy as that sounds after going to the NFC ship. Rick was heavy into win now mode and wanted a better QB, as he thought that was the missing piece. I know its not playing the game your asking but Kirk really was the right choice, but just a horrible fit with Zim and how the team was built, then you lose Shurmur and add Deflippo which was a disaster as well. So we added a better QB but the rest of the schematics were way off.
But to play I guess in the alternate universe we signed Case, Teddy, or Sam and we go 8-8 likely or sneak in the playoffs and lose as well. They still think theyre in win now mode so I think in 2019 they would've traded or signed some vet, maybe Fitzpatrick or something like that. So I guess the 2019 season depending on what happened really wouldve been the turning point in our alternate universe. If we miss the playoffs there I would think Zim/Rick would've been fired, and maybe we actually get the rebuild there. As much as it seems like the Kirk experiment has wasted our years and some older talent, I really dont think much wouldve been different if we didnt sign him, its ownership that has to except a reset. We still wouldve had 0 Super bowl wins. They wouldnt have had the balls to run a rookie QB out there so I dont want to hear Mahomes or Jackson as possibilities.
