Besides Cousins not having time to throw, I don't either.
KOC was interviewed recently about Cousins, and he talked about setting him up for success without having to go through every progression. Could this mean that Cousins is not great at getting through all progressions and seeing the most open guy? KOC did not say much about having Cousins read the Defense and then switch to a better play at the line. Is Cousins good at this? Did Stafford do this for the Rams? It seems like McVay was in Goff's ear to help him get into the right play.
What is KOC's stance on letting the QB audible vs being in his ear and telling him what to do?
It's interesting to look at the raw stats for the offense of both the Vikings and Rams from last year.
Similar number of offensive plays
Way fewer giveaways from the Vikes passing but about 25 fewer first downs as well.
Avg drive time similar. Avg # of plays favor the rams but not a huge discrepancy.
The rams actually had fewer drives by about 1 per game but averaged 2.5 points per drive whereas the vikings averaged 2.08. So the vikes actually chewed up a bit more clock on offense than the Rams.
There are other minor differences between the two offenses. But there were also some pretty decent differences between the defenses. Which is where I'm probably more interested in terms of improvement at this point. We are focused on KOC improving the offense, but they've actually allocated most of their off season resources to improving the defense.
