What if Kevin is wrong?

Kirk was 3-6 when the defense let in 21 or more points in 2019. We had a top 5 defense that season in ppg allowed and still had Diggs and the other weapons as well (including a healthy Cook). Given the amount of cap space we used on Kirk dropping down a little defensively like that shouldn't have been too much of an issue if he was actually capable of lifting the offense to another level. The reality is we got a slightly better QB for a massive price and that ended up really hurting the team as a whole. Against the 49ers Kirk played horrible and missed a lot of open receivers on the way to a 10 point performance.

Keenum was paid like a backup and performed great all season leading us further than Cousins has in 4 seasons. If you want to blame the defense realize it should drop off when you relocate your cap/assets in that manner into the QB that's supposed to take the team to the next level. Top 5 defense is nothing to scoff at and Kirk wasn't winning games when other teams scored a lot either as shown so it isn't like that really changed. The difference in rank for scoring per game is 8th to 10tth which if you consider Cook played 10 more games isn't impressive (again he was supposed to clearly elevate the offense more than a QB like Case). We paid a lot of money for a QB that still struggled to win those types of games, was a major issue in our playoff loss but who also ate up a massive amount of cap. Even with a top 5 defense and elite talent around him on offense like 2019. 

This is hilarious.  I'm responding to someone telling me how glad I am to settle for mediocrity, but I can't call out the ignorance?  Really?

I'm someone telling someone that likes to make dumbass accusations to take his/her/their medicine, or quit dishing it out and pretending to be a grownup.

Over and over, it's the response, not the initial insult, that gets panties wadded...heh....

Every once in a while, the insults overtake the debate. Let's debate and leave the insults for another venue. Some people on the board are quite negative in their outlook, and they may not know when they have stopped debating and started insulting people they disagree with. Others are new and have not posted as much. Even if you are right in responding the way you did, it makes the board an uglier place.

So let's discuss Vikings football and disagree without being disagreeable.

Back to the Vikings:

• A strong defense makes it a lot easier to win. (With a great defense, you can win a Super Bowl even if your QB sucks; you can also come close with a great defense)
  
• Cousins does not suck, but he is expensive, and it is harder to rebuild your defense and your offensive line when you have an expensive QB who does not win games with his brilliance.

For those of you who don't know where I stand regarding Cousins, I think he is an expensive, above average QB. I think he could win a Super Bowl, and I think he will need an Offensive Line to protect him on crucial downs. He also needs a top defense. Top 5 would be great and top 10 might be possible. Both of these things are possible in 2022.

The Vikings' key players need to stay healthy, and the Coaches need to develop game plans that work. Game plans are often the difference between wins and losses. (See the 2017 Season's NFCC game vs the Eagles. Zimmer got outcoached; Brady's Patriots did too in the Super Bowl.)

A year ago, I wanted the Vikings to trade Cousins before this season and go with Mond. I thought, and I still think that Mond has potential worth developing. Zimmer obviously did not. I like the new Coach and the new offensive and defensive schemes, and I look forward to seeing what happens in 2022.

So NFL football is the ultimate team sport. Offenses, Defenses, Coaches, and, yes, QBs matter. As do injuries and referees. (See the 1975 Vikings vs Dallas or the 2018 Saints vs Rams)

OK insults stop now. Keep your opinions about other members to yourself.

That's pretty much it. He's a career. 500 guy who's not to blame for never making any post season noise or even rarely getting there.
