GMs upset about KAM’s trade down?

I think the argument has been that he got fleeced on Thursday, no doubt. But he rebounded atleast with some better trades.

Are there people who do NOT think KAM should've gotten more in the trade?
All I've ever said is...in retrospect, we did get x y and z from the trade and it is what it is.

We're talking about 2 different arguments again. There's a value argument that we can have immediately, and in a couple years we can have a "how did it turn out" argument. Nobody has a crystal ball so yeah we have to wait on the latter, but you can absolutely grade a GM on how he did with the information he (and the rest of us) had available at the time of the draft. Those are 2 separate arguments.

There seems to be an overwhelming consensus on the value argument, which is Kwesi got swindled. That will never change, but Kwesi still could have the last laugh if Williams is a bust and his picks end up being pro bowlers. Although he had no idea it would turn out that way, just like he has no idea the inverse could happen, so the value argument is more important IMO. It's a direct reflection on Mr. Analytics, his process, and how he uses information, which is what we hired him for. How the talent turns out is more a crap shoot and based on luck. Educated luck, but luck nonetheless. A lot of that probably even falls on O'Connell and his staff, and how they develop that talent.

Ofc there's a collaborative component to the argument as well, and we don't know how much input anyone else had on these trades or picks, but at the end of the day, Kwesi is the boss so he'll be held responsible. And I can see how a collaborative process can be beneficial in some circumstances, but you do need a leader who can make decisions on his own too. Like when Kwesi is on the phone with Detroit, does he have to put them on hold to discuss any counter offer with his fellow collaborateurs? I worry he might not have enough alpha in him to take charge when/if needed. He almost seems too passive. The collaborative process almost seems ... what's the word? Cult-like?

2 separate arguments. Right now all we can do is talk about the value. It's a red herring to even try to bring long term into the discussion. Besides, all the possible "what ifs" cancel each other out. What if Williams is a bust and our picks are pro bowlers? What if Williams is the next Moss and our picks are busts? Nobody knows.

There seem to be lol. Why are people defending the trade? Why are people using "new age" value charts in attempt justify it? And some are using the "we gotta wait and see" red herring. We don't need to wait and see to make a value judgment. Even if Williams is a bust and our picks become pro bowlers, we still missed out on an extra pick that could have been another pro bowler or starter. It's a (x, y, and z) vs (x, y, z, and w) argument ... it doesn't matter how (x, y, and z) turnout in the equation because you lost out on w.

I don't remember the site but a couple years ago I did a mock where I accumulated 107 picks, and I recently beat that using PFF's draft simulator by accumulating 121 picks lol. Which I now refer to as the Spielman Special. I don't think these mocks were designed to be exploited in such ways because yeah it's ridiculously easy to trade for day 3 picks. Like in this last one, the Chargers gave me 10 picks (including the 17th overall) for just my 12th overall pick. The Packers then gave me 8 picks for the 16th overall. Rinse and repeat. 121 picks is almost half the draft xD.

Whatever keeps the 9-8 money train rolling. If they get too close to 7-10 then heads might roll.

I'm no scout either, and my 'judgment' at this stage is based on watching 'some' college football, watching highlights, and reading what experts say. This draft 'feels' like we just got both better and nastier in the DB room, the LB room, and the OL room before we even got deep into day 3. Plus, I think the RB will push Nwangwu and potentially eventually replace Mattison for sure even Cook down the line. A few late picks and UDFAs could be nice value picks....from what I 'know', the actual picks we made we should be happy with. That includes passing up on Nakobe Dean for Asumoah (I think)
