Understand what exactly? There is recent, apples-to-apples trade in which the team that traded down received a 1st round pick. Isn't that comparing data? Isn't that analytics?
There is an implied cost of trading within your division--I have never seen an inter-division trade calculator. We can assume it depends on the players available, and how many spots the team moves up. Per the Jimmy Johnson chart the difference is about 700 points between 12 and 32. In any sport, teams avoid trading with their rivals

And using a chart created in the 80s is only so relevant. I'd like to think we have a better understanding of the game.
At the end of the day, this was likely the best offer to trade down. So, take it or leave it? We will see what the right move was, but it's not at all a major lopsided victory for either club.
The JJ draft board maybe antiquated, but there are multiple other contemporary boards that have the Vikes winning the trade by a small margin. I would prefer not to make a 50/50 trade with a team within the division.
Also, the draft value boards are just a tool. I recognize that. But there has to be, somewhat, a common currency/value of draft picks. At the very least its a starting point of trade talk
We wont ever get a true 1:1 example due to the factors you pointed out. We will see how it plays out
