A couple of articles out of the combine week about Cpt. Kirk. Sounds like not only is Kirk and his agent going to play hardball but they expect substantial "going rate" increases if an extension is in the works. First link is from ProFootballtalk which basically suggests that Kirk not only wants the $45M this year but also wants $9M more in each of the next 2 years. The Vikings already spend almost $17M more on offense than the defense according to OTC, and they have to work out a longterm deal with Jefferson.

The second link is from Fandsided and suggests that the Cousins team is playing hardball again. I was in the camp of letting Cousins ride out this year and see what he can do under KOC while rebuilding the defense through the draft. And I know it's still early in the negotiation process, but if Mike Mcdaniel starts there, then counter with no more guaranteed money over $30M and make him EARN the rest with incentives, including a heavy percentage of it in making the playoffs. Otherwise, it's a hard pass and trade him to Denver (or whoever) before March 16.
