OFFICIAL: Vikings Hire Kwesi Adofo-Mensah as GM

I looked back at some of the very first posts after Rick was sacked and he was consistently mentioned as a top candidate.

Personally after digging a bit into the two I like him better than Poles. And if he brings in Ryans I think we could get scary good really fast.

One thing I like about Mensah is, I really think he will clean up some of our cap issues, where Poles might not have wanted to do that. Mensah, being a money man, knows a business cant start out with this much cap. I believe anyone is on the table for trades or just being cut. Including Cousins, Hunter, AT, Cook, Smith, to name a few. I just hope he doesnt over react and see how many picks he could get for JJ. JJ is going to be the face of the Vikings, what applies to other players, doesnt apply to him. I dont care if Mensah was the only option left, because its done. I dont think the Wilf's know what they are doing most of the time. But we are starting a new age, the only other choice would become a Packers fan, and I'd rather die than that.

Hey All - first time poster. Fan of the team for many years (86 to be exact)

Was fine with moving on from Zim and Rick. Team needed a change of direction.

Pretty excited about the hiring of KAM. Some risk there with his background but I think it'll be well worth it. Big baseball fan as well and seeing how teams have been able to weave in analytics as part of their strategic process on that side gives me hope.

But most of all I just get a good feeling about his personality. His subtle confidence.

Most successful franchises in any sport seem to be that way due to a top down philosophy where a certain culture is created through upper level leadership and the rest falls in place. While I didn't think Zim or Rick were poor at their job per se, it certainly seems they lost the ability to be on the same page. So fingers crossed that KAM is the guy to bring that type of culture back.

Looking forward to what they do at HC and almost as importantly at DC and OC. To me, the former brings the team together under that common philosophy I spoke of and ultimately dictates strategy but the latter is where the x's and o's come together on a game to game basis.

This was step one and I'm hopeful that they complete the process along similar lines. In other words, I hope they give KAM full reign to bring in who he thinks works best for his approach.

They've made a pretty bold step and now they need to fully commit to that. I hope they do. Even if it fails. I don't think it will if they go all in on the approach. But we'll see.

Has anyone ever gotten more good press than this guy has in the past 24 hours?

Originally I was against an unconventional hire but like I've stated numerous times I am nowhere near qualified to judge a general manager candidate....

So considering the fact that everyone in football world thinks this guy is the second coming of Christ I'm now happy about this hire.

But he better get Doug Pederson in there for an interview. If not Peterson then Raheem Morris.

I don't want a coach without previous head coaching experience at this point based on this GM hire. It's not congruent to the roster to have two unexperienced guys at the two most important positions in management roster building....
