The same reason they interviewed Catherine forgettable name. It's a way of throwing them a bone for the future. An extra nugget they can add to their resume moving forward. I've taken the temperature of fans and pundits alike before and after the 2 finalists were announced. 90% of the fan base wanted Poles, not many were excited about being stuck with Kwesi now, and many trying to put a positive spin on it, in a "well she's got a nice personality" sorta way. Now we just wait for them to hire the least inspiring of all the failed defensive minded coaches that have been rumored to us recently, to complete our transition into the Zimmer era 2.0.

Always wrong Slooter-worshipper hates Kwesi? This hire is now SOLID GOLD BABY!

p.s. Vikings were locked in on Kwesi and Poles knew this which is why he took the Bears job.

The only way I will pay any attention to this franchise is if we find, and start, three new LBs. I know you guys want to believe the Kendricks hype but he IS the problem on our D! Therefore, my prediction is three new LBs in 22. If not, say hello right now to 5-12

I just wonder if there is time for a late addition? Will 49ers OC McDaniel get in for an interview, perhaps?

What is this? 1988? LB's? In the passing era? The one thing that sounds promising about Kwesi is his history of focusing on the trenches and the secondary. It tells me he's aware of what era we're in. Gotta protect the passer on offense, and gotta stop the passer on defense. Having said that, if he then hires one of these failed defensive minded coaches, he's not as smart as people have been saying.

I don't think he's ready, I'm skeptical of analytics building a championship roster (he hasn't), and I don't believe for a second the Vikings ever intended to hire him, but I can warm up to him if he hires the right coach. I've taken some time to think about it some more, and his "style" and history aligns more with the offensive side of things, and passing, so if he picks the right HC, one that aligns with his style, I'm willing to give him a chance. If he hires one of these rumored defensive guys, then I'm going to be "burn the whole thing down" day 1. I swear to christ if we enter another run run checkdown era, which ALL defensive minded guys love ... I can't do it. It's been 11 years of watching "run first" defensive guys fail.

Poles could have still done the Vikings interview and taken the Bears job later. It makes more sense to me to interview the guy you intend to hire, last, so it doesn't look like you wasted someone's time. Besides, Poles was the only guy with the "gave an impressive interview" headlines.
