Give me one reason why you don't see that happening.
I think this is the reason:
Extend Cousins and Hockenson.
First, no problem extending Hockenson. But Cousins, again? If we keep extending him, we'll never even consider drafting a QB high. Some year, this team has to let Kirk play on the last year of his contract and start grooming a young QB while Cousins is a bridge. I know there will be temptation to look at the win total from 2022 and say, "Keep running it back!" But if this team gets bounced early in the playoffs - exposed, honestly - isn't this the time to give up on the core of this roster? 2020 and 2021 were portrayed as years when the team had bad circumstances (Covid, injuries, narrow losses, Zimmer's "bad environment") which may have held them back. OK, but now in 2022 we had a year where there were no devastating season-long injuries or other bad breaks. Essentially, every break went their way and the roster overachieved. So that's the best they will do without a talent infusion. Also, despite the division championship, 2 division rivals pushed this team around at the end of this season. So they are likely to slide back next year when they also have tougher divisional challengers.
They won't draft Young or Stroud but they might get someone like Anthony Richardson or Hendon Hooker and have him ready for 2024.
