The bigger concern I'd have is about whoever that Jalen Hurts could be your NFL QB.
He's not an NFL QB and that's why he didn't make it at Alabama.

I see "Justin Jefferson" is trending nationwide so I'm like 'oh sh*t what happened'... I click on it and it's just thousands of tweets of people making fun of the eagles passing on him.

That move is going to go down in football lure like the Hershell Walker trade. That stink will forever be attached the the Eagles and anyone in that front office.

Don't shoot the messenger, just stating the way things are. Apparently that's a BIG deal. Again I don't make the rules I'm just passing along the observations... I don't see why this is so problematic for you. You are a Vikings fan... Right?

It's a great question and I agree with the premise....and reading some of the information that's been made public, I think the decision to actually fire Spielman was made a bit later in the process, which is why I think the GM search got off to a bit of a slow start during Wk 18/"Black Monday"...

There were meetings with the Wilfs and the entire Viking ownership group throughout the week leading up to that Wk 18 game against the Bears...the SKOR North crew (along with Darren "Doogie" Wolfson) were reporting a Wed meeting, while Chad Graff of The Athletic was reporting a Sunday morning meeting, the actual morning of the game. I think the entire Viking ownership group was 100% on-board with firing Zimmer (probably well before Wk 17/18)...but I think there was probably some back-n-forth with retaining Spielman in a non-GM role or outright firing him and that decision probably wasn't made until the weekend of Wk 18, and possibly even that Sunday morning meeting. 

This is just speculation on my part, but what I think happened is the Wilfs and Viking ownership came into town during the week leading up to Wk 18, were already convinced Zimmer was gone, but wanted to find out a bit more of the dysfunction (the same dysfunctional Ben Goessling laid out in his recent Star Trib article this weekend). So they probably talked with the rest of the coaching staff, the players (Thielen has already publicly acknowledged the Wilfs came to the players, just not sure exactly when) and got a good idea that there were problems with both Zimmer and Spielman - and the Deion Sanders story about Spielman/Zimmer not talking for months was probably discussed/brought up. The Wilfs live in Jersey and not in Minnesota so they might not have known the level of dysfunction and passive-aggressiveness of the entire organization until they conducted those meetings/interviews that week. 

So at some point later in the week up to Wk 18 (or even that weekend), the Wilfs and Viking ownership made the decision that both Zimmer and Rick needed to go. They then needed to form the Committee that would start conducting the GM search - and probably needed to talk w/ Stephenson, Brez and some others to get them all on board with the idea (forming and finalizing the GM search Committee could have been the Sunday morning meeting of that Viking/Bears game). 

The GM search Committee then probably got together Sunday evening, Monday & Tuesday and started doing their research/groundwork on potential GM candidates and it wasn't until Wednesday, 1/12 that we started to receive word of who they were from Tom Pelissaro of the NFL Network. 

By the time the Viking GM Committee got their formal interview requests into the league office and to other NFL teams, the Bears and Giants had already started their process. The Vikings are approx 3-5 days behind the Bears/Giants in the GM interview/search process.

I do find that a bit disappointing though, since the GM search Committee should have already been formed prior to Wk 18 and the names should have been submitted to the teams/league office as soon as the final whistle blew on the last game of Wk 18 (Raiders/Chargers on SNF). The reason is should have already been formed is because even if the original idea of pushing Spielman into a John Elway "President" role was being floated, the team was still going to look for a GM anyway. I think the issue was Spielman was probably going to be part of that GM Committee and when the Viking ownership made the decision during the week leading up to Wk 18 to fire Spielman, that probably put a wrinkle in the GM Committee's plans and perhaps altered the list a bit. 

And that's probably why we received a few conflicting reports of who was on the list - some of the original names were told to watch out for did not appear on the list of the final 8 names, and I'm guessing those original names were some of Rick's suggestions that were scratched upon his firing.
