He wasn't in because Mike Zimmer had no time for young players who couldn't help him now.
Kramer:
Phil, every former player I talked to the last few years including myself felt Kirk was a mistake
Unless you have the '85 Bears, you need to rely on more than a good defense. A good defense wasn't going to suddenly make Zimmer smarter at managing a game. Which is the biggest liability in his philosophy that leads to a lot of close games. And whether he was against signing Cousins or whatever, he's the HEAD coach, and it's his job to adapt and make things work, or he's not worthy of the job. He was just a big pouting baby these past 4 seasons, trying to shove square pegs into round holes. Dungy went to Indy but he didn't turn Peyton into a game manager and try to spend most of the offseason capital on the defensive side of the ball. He adapted to offense, and used his defensive mind to get what he could out of what he had on defense. Zimmer can't even do that much. Too busy sulking.
How are people still defending this guy lol? Lousy leader, couldn't adapt, couldn't manage a game, couldn't coach up the defense, thick as granite. I'm struggling to figure out what he actually brought to the table. He was good at beating bad teams somehow? I got nothing.
Jammies. He's got em.
