I agree but if you're going to not roll with Kirk and not bring in another competent quarterback... blow it up..

Who's to say we don't draft a competent QB?

But if we don't and still trade Kirk which I highly doubt would happen, but let's say we did, then I agree with you, blow it up and start over with a youth movement.

Don't like the latter option because you're looking at probably st least 3 years before you're competing for a playoff spot.

Absolutely would not be shocked either. If that’s the case you have to make up your mind as the Vikings that the marriage is over. It’s only whether it’s over March of 22 or January 23. A franchise QB(albeit not a great one) that doesn’t want to sign an extension is few and far between. You can’t let him hold the franchise hostage. We should be the ones dictating things.

It makes sense to me, Kirk refused a restructure of some sort over the 2021 offseason, and he won't be taking a discount this offseason either - he's absolutely fine hitting FA next season. You almost have to wonder if he'd like to be traded to a team with a better roster around him so that he can try and get the Stafford narrative around him (and just pretend he didn't join a 13-3 Vikings team in 2018)... I really don't know if he'd want that or not.

I believe that. I think I even mused something similar. The cap is spiking, lots of teams need QB's and need to spend money. QB contracts are put of control. He'd be happier than anything to be a FA next year. The best thing for him probably would be to do nothing.

I think about the best concession we might get is adding a void year in 2023 to spread out the hit and he still becomes a FA at the end of the year. Probably have to toss him a few extra dollars for the "inconvenience" too. That's if the Vikings even want that. They might just say screw it and take the big hit if they can't move him and just get it over with.

I think at the very least they'll add a void year to 2023 and shift about 10m to free up some cap space. It doesn't leave him with less money and would give the team some room to improve this year. Based on his history I don't see him taking a team friendly deal. And I don't blame him. 30-35m per is about what he's worth with the rising cap.
