Vikes Mann-handled in Green Bay - Deflated Ball?

Do the vikes have a quick, safe pass play package, maybe some back shoulder, man coverage throws? Rodgers was killing us with this stuff all night. We have a brand new QB playing on the road in horrible conditions and Kubiak brings out the 7-step drop stuff, ALL NIGHT!! I doubt Mannion knew where his 2nd option was, ever! And......running Cook head first into Clark repeatedly? With Bradburry trying to block for him? Insane. Up yours Kubiak. It was obvious you didn’t prep for this one.

Mills developed by playing in games. There are things a QB can learn on the bench, but actually playing is the #1 teacher.

Something to remember when we draft our real qbotf.

Playing in college at A&M where your receivers are 50% better than most CB's they matchup against makes it easy for a QB due to large open targets.

NFL game doesn't have those large windows to throw into.

Also, a Texas A&M offense is probably a bit easier than a NFL offense.  I'm guessing Mond had a lot of plays where he had to read one thing and thow to his first option and that was it.

I find it odd that strong NFL fans don't seem to understand this and would find this shocking.
If it weren't true, all college QB's would be good NFL QB's.

That game reminded me of some of my friends in college.

I had several friends who were music majors and as part of that major, all of them had to take a class called "Music Theory". I never figured out what Music Theory actually was, but I did pick up two critical things about it: Music Theory was hard (they always complained about how hard it was), Music Theory involved no actual instruments / singing / playing / making music of any kind. The best I could figure out what that Music Theory was all sorts of rules on how things were supposed to work to make sure their music never sounded like rock music. Some of my friends were also good students, they would study hard and be very proud of when they would get a good grade, or at least pass Music Theory; some of them were such good students they even became friends with the music professors. However, none of my friends were what I would call sublimely talented at music - sure, they were regular talented, far better then me. I went to some of their concerts and they were pretty good. At those concerts I also got to see some people who WERE sublimely talented; people who would be soloists with the Minnesota Orchestra and make a living off their talent. Those sublimely talented people never gave me the sense that they would be bothered in the slightest by Music Theory - since they good at actual music.

Sean Mannion is a lot like one of my friends. I'm sure he's a good study, has read the entire book on Football Theory and has a good working relationship with Professor Zimmer as they read about the various techniques. However, just like Music Theory, Football Theory is very different than playing actual football.

Last night's failure was entirely on the QB position being incapable of playing football at an NFL level. The Defense held the Packers to 6 points on 4 drives; the Vikings first 4 drives in the first game resulted 16 points, this game it resulted in 14 plays. Mannion was either unwilling or unable to even look down field even when there wasn't pressure. His predictable screen passes were slow to the to the receiver, getting them blasted. His accuracy was bad. Of course Cook can't run when there are more defenders than blockers on every play because there is no threat of a pass going more than 2 yards down field.

It doesn't matter if it was Mannion's inadequacies or coaching, they're the same thing. The coaching staff knew this was coming and the team wasn't prepared. The result was worse than that time John left his saxophone out in the rain (Music Theory didn't tell him not to).

I think Zim got nervous when Mond looked like he had some energy and focus, so he benched him so as not to risk having him do good things and make Zim look like an idiot for starting Manwich.

Sounds like Mannion should be a coach rather than a player.
