In that La Canfora piece, he mentions this:

"Zimmer was under fire for the construction of his staff..."

What's interesting about that particular line is that it may allude to a recent (1/3/22) article written by Kalyn Kahler at Defector.com (former Deadspin authors) on nepotism in the NFL, and she specifically cites a former Viking player that accused Zimmer and the Vikings of nepotism (link to that article here: link). That article cites the examples of Zimmer's son, Adam Zimmer - promoted to DC, and Gary Kubiak's son - Klint, as "problems" for some players within the Vikings locker room.

Yeah, Zimmer keeps hiring offensive coordinators every year, Zimmer does not have a clue about offense

You are right but offensive coordinators leaving Vikings almost every year is not a good look

When they leave for head coaching gigs, actually, it is. Not sure why Shurmur, Stefanski, and Kubiak are held against Zimmer. Makes no sense. "Oh, your guys did well and got a promotion? Well, you suck!"

From the recent SKOR North discussions, we've learned that the more favorable outcome would be to hire a GM relatively quickly so you don't lose out on the "good" HC candidates. Knowing all the new rules/processes the league has established in terms if minority candidates, hopefully the Vikings move real quickly after Sunday's game so they can get started.

I do not have a problem with that since Klint's offense is terrible and plus Zimmer is not going to be here anymore

I do not know, I would like to see Vikings take their time interviewing and hire the right person, if Vikings try to get someone quickly without interviewing other candidates, it might be a big mistake

One thing that was brought up in the latest purple daily once this report came out was, what are the rules about interviewing GM candidates from Playoff teams? Can they or would they be able to interview during the playoffs?

It’s pretty bad. Especially if he ends up having many say in the roster or draft decisions. At that point you might as well have just kept him as gm.

But then the Wilfs haven't exactly lit it up with some of their past decisions, so it wouldn't surprise me if they keep Rick in the bullpen with an impressive title in order to complicate the new GM picture.

Keep in mind their maiden hire was Fran Foley who they never properly vetted and they had to quickly dump him. The next decision they made? Hire Spielman.

Unlike most Vikings fans I liked Lil'Kub. For a first time OC he did a good job with what he had to work with and I don't think his offense was terrible. Our offense had some talented players this year and I thought they were utilized as best they could.
