The good thing about having a new GM is that it wont really matter what they get in return the main goal is to get something, if he wants to move on from Kirk. Essentially the Vikings have no leverage since he has only 1 year left and hes due the 35 million with 45 million dead cap hit if hes cut. I think Denver is the only realistic option maybe the Browns, and thats if Russel or Rodgers or even Watson arent on the move. My guess is Kirk gets moved somehow or he just plays out this last year on the 45 million, I dont see how a new GM would come in here and put all his eggs in Kirks basket when they have a chance to start fresh and pick there own guy.
There will be interest in Cousins this offseason if the Vikings choose to go that route. I say give Mond a chance and if he fails you're drafting pretty high in 2023. Use 2022 to concentrate on upside and get a HC capable of developing talent.
More interest than Alex Smith got when he became available in 2018? At that point, Smith had a significantly better track record of winning football games, but was pretty much a known, not good enough to win in the playoffs QB.
He got a 3rd round pick via a trade from a poorly run team while well run teams avoided him like the plague.
