What a day. Rodgers and Adams going to cost GB roughly $68.5M next year (I know long term contract for DaVante is coming) and the Wilson blockbuster trade. I'd add Cleveland to the very short list. The connections are there, and Cousins would be an upgrade. He's healthy, too. And stays healthy. Wouldn't be a bad landing spot for Cousins either.

As for Wentz, he lost a lot of respect from his teammates because of it and many felt it cost them a playoff birth.

I read it that it's fully guaranteed money and that either the Colts or an acquiring team have to pay it (and take the cap hit).

I would try and trade him. I'm perfectly fine running with Mond for 2022 and would draft a QB if someone I liked fell to me.
IMO the priority for this season is getting the defense back on track and tweeking the offensive personnel to suit what Kevin wants to do, which seems like it will be more WR heavy and less TE dependant.

They aren't running with Mond.
No one is running with Mond as their QB1.

I am of the belief no one wants to trade for Kirk and we essentially would have to give picks or accept bad contracts on someone else to get rid of him.

I think we end up going with Kirk this year and it is what it is and we look for a new option in 2023.

I seriously doubt the Wilfs will allow the new regime to trade the QB.

Mark Wilf publicly stated he felt the team could be "super competitive" despite seeing them miss the expanded playoffs two straight years AND firing the two men responsible.

Combine that statement with the Harbaugh long interview and non offer and I believe the owners were only interested in people who would want to keep the QB.

That is my reading of the tea leaves and it gives me the impression that they are meddling.

I probably am 100% wrong though.

The new regime could foolishly think they can get more out of Cousins than previous coaches and coordinators could not. Why they have this belief is a mystery.

The QB does put up good numbers but like Coach Zimmer said, he never (very rarely) makes plays off script.

Investing more money in Cousins is going to prove to be a waste IMHO.

The evidence is there.

His teams have made the playoffs two times in seven years.

I think this FACT is what makes his true trade value pretty low. Like Alex Smith level low. Two second round picks.

I think you value Cousins too little if you think that a Wentz + day 2 pick for Cousins is what Indy will pay. Indy has no first round pick this year either. Minnesota should easily be able to get their 2023 first on top of a day 2 pick this season for that swap. I personally like that in that they have ammo to move around and get a QB in 2023 if they so desire.

Wentz for all intents and purposes is untradeable. Cousins is not. I'd add that Indy's offensive line would be a good fit for Cousins as well. He'd probably do better there in that aspect of things.

You may be right about that. My point though is that unless Indy is the only team left willing to trade (which I doubt), we will have better options on the table for Cousins than a Day 2 + Wentz.

He quit because he doesn't like the way Arians runs things. That isn't going to change so he's not going to play for Tampa again.

That may be so, but Brady has already left the door open to returning, so I wouldn't put it out of the question. Supposedly, he had a handshake agreement with Tampa to cut him when he signed said extension. Arians of course is saying they won't trade his rights, but it isn't his call. I agree that Brady saw the writing on the wall there. The question is if he's really retired or if Brady wants to be the first QB in NFL history to win a ring with 3 separate teams.

Ultimately, it comes down to what was promised. I wouldn't put it past Brady at all to do that if he felt as if they lied to him.

One name for the Seahawks at QB - I think it's doubtful that it happens, but it's Kirk Cousins. I've been told that Pete Carroll likes Kirk Cousins, and their OC Shane Waldron worked together with Kirk in Washington. They have salary cap space now and they have the assets to trade for a QB. ...If Carroll decides not to hit the reset button, Cousins is a possibility.

Seattle would be dumb to do this, but this is the team that traded 2 1sts for Jamal Adams and Carroll could push to keep his squad competitive.
