Kirk to Pittsburgh? Trade Cousins?

Guts and will to win?

In the Vikings game against the Bengals this year. Burrow called an audible on a crucial play with the game on the line and won the game. Meanwhile in our game against Dallas while on a drive at the end of the half, attempting to improve a lead, Kirk couldn't even call a timeout with his coaches permission. Afterall, he just works here. Highest paid player in the league, 10 year vet, can't call a freaking timeout in an last minute drive.

Beyond that. Every game Kirk took 3 or more sacks this year we lost. Burrow had multiple 3+ sack games that they won this year. One of their playoff games he took 9 sacks and they still won. In what realm would Kirk ever take 9 sacks and we win?

Let's flip to the other Super Bowl QB, Stafford. Who some cling to as hope for Kirk. In the Super Bowl, late in the game Stafford threw a no look pass to his best WR in coverage because they needed to make a play.

Kirk Cousins. In a regular season game, in any quarter on a 3rd and long can't muster the testicular fortitude to throw to a slightly covered WR for the first over his dump off option for a short gain.

Face it, he's vanilla yogurt. There's an "it" factor that some athleteshave that make them special, Kirk doesn't have that.

Edit- on that timeout snafu, here's Kirk's response.

"I just let Zim handle the timeouts, because I never know quite what the coaches want to do with what they're thinking, a play ahead or what that may be," Cousins said. "So I was just gonna let them handle that and call the next play if we're not getting it."

That's a real leader there. 10 year vet, played Football all his life. Can't figure out maybe I should call a timeout because there's a miscommunication. Nope, I just work here and run what they say. He can't even take responsibility for something that he had the ability to change.

Ah yes, the great Joe Burrow. Sacked 9 times and wins so he is an elite QB.  In that game he had zero tds. 1 interception. And got his team inside the red zone exactly once.  It really is a lot easier to win a game when the defense holds the other team to 16 points.  Hell, you don’t even need to get into the red zone but once.  But Burrow gets all the credit. 

The major factor is what Kirk's mindset is. Is he willing to sign an extension with a new team? If so then a 1st is a possibility. If he won't sign an extension then it will really dent any return possibilities. I currently believe that's the most likely outcome.

It's in Kirk's best interest to be a free agent next year. He can cash in on spike in the cap and out of control QB contracts due to high demand.

Eh, 6 years ago is a long time in the NFL. Though there was actual intrigue about what he could do outside of Washington, and now there isn't that.


I definitely agree there, I think he could get a late 1st, but it's also going to depend on how much salary the Vikings eat.

My memory may be faulty, but Cousins also was refusing an extension.  I think he's doing that here too, though I suspect this time around he might waive that if enough $$$ are tossed his way.
