They have one super bowl in what 2007? And havent been back since. The Packers are not the goal.

I know we can likely compete for the division regardless if we just ran it back, but I dont think that is the right approach. We will have very little room for error and would need a lot of luck to go our way to reach our goals. Take a step back to go three forward. You have a new GM and new coach its the perfect time to do so. Ill always be a fan and support the decisions made at first but I just dont think its the way to go by running it back for a fourth year in a row. Its almost insane honestly.

Your right that the division shouldn't be the final goal for KAM and KOC. I was just pointing out why the Viking brain trust has optimism going into their first year. This division might be the worst in the NFL next year if Rodgers leaves. Winning it is the first and easiest path to the playoffs, where anything can happen like the Bengals. But does anyone really expect a SB trophy this year with our current cap space, and roster? Personally, I feel it will be a 3-5 year plan, that's reasonable expectations from a fan base. The coaching staff will need $$$ and time to get their type of players on the team, so any playoffs appearances in the meantime will be bonuses for us fans.

My point is...the "experts" don't know $hit about how good a team will be. We ALL know the Pukers won't be as good without Waaaron so why not go for winning the North and get some breaks (and play better than you really are like the Bengals did) and go deep into the playoffs?

The bengals are an upcoming team that is only going to be better with loads of money to spend. Maybe not expected to do what they did last year but I wouldnt say them being good wasnt expected very soon. Either way just a weak mentality to think Rodgers leaving the packers should effect any decisions make on your team.

But the Bengals weren't supposed to be Super Bowl capable last season. So, tanking or anything less than 100% effort is never acceptable. This isn't Madden 2022.

I take everything I hear said to the media with a grain of salt...But from the sounds of things it seems like Hunter and Kirk are in the Vikings plans. Someone is going to have to be a casualty I dont believe they can make it work with everyone. Harrison and Kendricks may be the odd men out.

the cost of a dollar against the cap now is way more impactful than that dollar in 2024. Granted, FA prices will go up significantly in the next two years.

If the Vikings went into the season with their same roster they have now without a single free agent and just drafted a couple few guys they'd probably end up with the same record they had in 2021. Maybe even better with some luck and better execution.

My point is that they aren't losing jack squat. They're not tasked with replacing a Von Miller or Dante Adams. The best players they need to replace are Barr, Conklin and Peterson. Plus there were some real duds on the roster in 2021. Scorched earth bad. They got Cole for almost nothing and he was worlds better than guys like Udoh or Hill. Alexander was a nightmare. Replaceable by a PS player. Same with Vigil. And Wonnum. And a crap ton of the depth

Or...and this is a big one. Maybe with better coaching they get more out of some of these guys. I know that's crazy talk.

the team easily could have got 11-6 and been a paper tiger in the playoffs. Point being that there's a decent number of holes to fill, but the team gets a decent chunk better even if you fill them with mediocre.
