IF Rodgers & Adams leave GB, then this division is ripe for the taking and I can see why the new regime thinks it can have a winning season. Keeping Kirk with a reasonable restructure like you suggest maybe worth it, but I wouldn't be overly excited. I've read that $35-40M/YR is the "accepted rate" for a QB of his caliber. Maybe KAM & KOC can use some of that money to address the OC or RG spot (somehow) with a FA like OC Allen, or RGs Daniels, Corbett, or Brandon Scherff (it's been mentioned he would like to play for either KC or MN). The first 3 mentioned are all young and could solidify 4 spots on the Oline for 3-5 years. And while Scherff would be more expensive, he could add much needed veteran leadership while he plays out his last years in the NFL. I'd like to believe KAM and KOC both understand the importance of the inside trenches better than Slick Rick and Zimmer ever did.
I know we can likely compete for the division regardless if we just ran it back, but I dont think that is the right approach. We will have very little room for error and would need a lot of luck to go our way to reach our goals. Take a step back to go three forward. You have a new GM and new coach its the perfect time to do so. Ill always be a fan and support the decisions made at first but I just dont think its the way to go by running it back for a fourth year in a row. Its almost insane honestly.
