That's a good description. I got to the part where he said that HE was standing next to Randy Moss when Moss complained about the quality of the food being served (Allen loves to name drop), and THAT was an offense that was "fireable", and so he (PA) certainly knows what actions justify firing someone, so quit suggesting that Kubiak or Zimmer should be fired because PA doesn't think they did anything fireable, and remember, he knows what a fireable offense is. Then, within a breath, he also said Brad Childress' firing was justified because he had lost the team. But...wasn't Childress the one who "fired" Moss - all of 20 days before he was fired? Seriously, it was a near-crazy rant lacking any logic.

That was strange.
So losing games isn't a fireable offense.
Just keep losing as long as you haven't lost the team.

That kind of mindset is why I believe Spielman has been GM as long as he has.
He's never going to take you anywhere, but he understands corporations well enough to not make any fireable offenses.

I didn't really raise this to point out the poor quality of sports talk in the Twin Cities (1500 AM does help) or Allen's utter lack of objectivity.

What may be relevant is that this allegedly-connected-to-team-insiders host was clearly furious to the point of insulting his audience. That tells me that, contrary to what he insists, he knows some of his pals are on the brink of getting fired. *clap*

I think that's a fair assumption because in today's ESPN Power Rankings, Courtney is basically raising the white flag on Zimmer, and even though she's not as much of a Viking "homer" as Paul Allen or KFAN, she definitely tries to paint as rosy a picture of the Vikings as she can...so when Courtney is predicting a coaching change (and when Florio at PFT is saying "enough is enough"), it's fair to assume that it's only a matter of time...

The only realistic window for Vikings owners to move on from Mike Zimmer, who has two years remaining on his contract, would come after two back-to-back losses to the Chargers and Packers. A loss to Minnesota's division rival at home in Week 11 to further emphasize its inferiority in the NFC North could be what pushes ownership to make a change. Personally I'm mostly just jealous of PA. He has my dream job and I've always suffered from voice envy/beard envy. But I'd rather listen to some colorful, purple-leaning announcing than the largely bland and neutral TV announcing (love Tony Romo though).

It doesn't bother me. As I said a few posts ago, I thought it was relevant on this board because an announcer, who is an unobjective homer but still supposed to be professional and respectful of his audience and their opinions, is so upset that it suggests he senses massive change coming.

PA was in my opinion a really good announcer and radio guy when he started at KFan after Jesse left. His show with Dubay was good.

It seems like around 2009 or so he really went south. Started to sound creepy around female guests and became impossible to listen to. I haven’t listened to him in a decade and don’t suspect I’ll start any time soon.

It probably doesn't matter too much at this point in the season, but Tankathon factors in the strength of schedule of all 17 opponents in their draft tie-breakers even if you haven't played them yet. Seems kinda weird to me to factor in your week 17 opponent in the week 10 draft standings lol.

The Vikings currently have the 13th pick, in either method.
