Kirk Cousins: A Career of Ineptitude

I'm pretty convinced that God hates the Vikings... or their fans. Have you paid attention to this franchise?  God leading him to us is just God being God... 

Your missing one big detail in that. The wilfs will not rebuild the team. They are too afraid to blow it up and bottom out the proper way to rebuild. They were the ones who wanted kirk re-signed. Zulgad has talked about this. Kirk is an average qb getting paid like a top 3 qb. You can’t compete for a sb with him and his contract. Not going to happen.

I was just going to post the same thing. I knew Kirk was crap when he was in WAS. I went there every weekend or so to see my ex in Falls Church VA. I even went to games and Kirk was BOOO-ed in them. The fans hated him. And now we know why, he cant play under pressure, Ive said this from the start. And yet the Wilf's pressured KOC and KAM into sticking with him, and extending his contract, again. I a going to be when this new regime is done, they will have a worse record then Zimmer and Rick had. We needed a complete rebuild, but in typical Vikings fashion, under the Wilfs decided it was still a win now plan. I am so sick of them interfering.

Yea I agree the Wilfs are on the side of "it is too hard to find a great QB so we will keep our good not great one." The big issue I have with that is finding a good young QB in the draft is a lot easier than it used to be even just 10-15 years ago. It isn't easy by any means, but if you go look at the starting QBs week 1 this season 18 of them were drafted in the last 5 years! Now, are some of them meh or just plain bad, yes. But there are a lot of them that are at least close to Kirk, especially when you take contract into consideration. Have to take the chance that you can find one!

The think the one thing the team has going for them in moving on from Kirk in the next year or two is his age. He is already 34. So if he finished out his current contract here he would be 36 for the following season. It makes it a lot easier to move on/find a new young QB when you have one that is 36 AND still hasn't taken you deep in the playoffs (projecting here, but I think we all agree a deep playoff run with Kirk this year or next is pretty much a no).

Question for you raptorman, after a full season to think about from last year and the prior seasons before and these last two games, what are your feelings on cousins and his ability or inability to lead us to a sb win? Please share I’m curious.

I would trade Cousins for Cooper Rush right now, and Im not joking.

I didnt want to believe this, but once KOC and Kwesi got here and Kirk was still here I finally caved into that the Wilfs are behind this all. But I will say this I do think they wanted to see a trial run with Kevin, which I was ok with and still am honestly.

Last night was vintage Kirk who shows his limitations when he or the team gets punched in the mouth. There was some unfortunate plays not going our way, but Philly gave us every chance to get back into that game. Kirk could've silenced every hater last night. Still long season to go and there was going to be hiccups, but doesnt look like you can teach an old dog new tricks. Yes JJ ran the wrong route, yes Irv dropped that ball early on. But you gotta keep fighting, you needed one of those balls to go in the endzone whether it be after the pick or after the blocked field goal. Thats on Kirk regardless how it went down.  Thats a game last night that shows who Kirk is when things get rough. And your going to need to win one of those type of games in the playoffs most likely. I dont think he ever will.

Still a lot of season left and ill see it through, but not a good look last night. If you were to tell me the Vikings have homefield and #1 seed, yes I think Kirk can get you to the super bowl. Problem is you have to earn that throughout the season. I could see a 2019 type season this year where it ends just like it did @ the 9ers.

I truly dont think they are going to go on any longer after this contract though. They will let Kwesi build the way he wants. They are still weeding out Ricks guys and now starting a new foundation. Yes Kirk will still be here 99% chance next year, but realistically they arent tied down long term to him or anyone else. You can still make your move next year in the draft for your QB or the following year. Its not a horrible plan, there is still some talent and I think they will compete this year still. There is no one way to do it. You can do the Lions full tear down or the Cheifs or Bills way which is what we are doing. Now if Kirk gets signed again without a ring, Im done with this team. Not putting anymore investment into it.
