How about just about every before the half 2-min drill this entire season so far and the Vikings inability to generate hardly anything out of them...
Specifically yesterday, the Vikings are up 28-20 in the 4th...under 3 min left...and driving to ice the game. It's 3rd and 8 from the Carolina 33 (ie, long FG territory)...a 1st down would nearly put a final nail in the Panther's coffin as they'd be forced to burn their remaining TO's and the Vikes would be set up much closer to go up by 2 scores. What do the Vikings do? Rush Dalvin and lose 3 yards...
...and even though it's still a long FG and Carolina would get the ball in favorable field position to start their next drive, even if you punted in that situation you're still relying on your defense to keep Carolina out of the end zone. So first, the Vikings conservatively ran it for -3 yards in that situation...and then, instead of pretty much icing the game with a FG, Zimmer decided to punt it to Carolina...who promptly drove the field anyway for the game-tying TD and 2-pt conversion - all with 42 seconds to spare, as well, So it ultimately didn't matter if the Vikings pinned them back deep or they gave the ball to at around the 36 - the Panthers still scored because the Viking's defense can't hold in pressure situations.
I posted this elsewhere, but what's clear right now is that the strength of the Viking's team is the offensive side of the ball and the play-calling and in-game management situations needs to reflect that more.
