I don't believe Priefer ever denied it, as he did incur a fine from the NFL and was made to attend sensitivity training.

If I remember right, it was speculated at the time that Priefer was using offensive language to trigger Kluwe since Chris was very open about his views. To me there is a difference between one incident as compared to a history of deplorable behavior (i.e. does Priefer actually believe in the genocide of the gays or was he just saying that to piss Kluwe off?). It was never demonstrated that Priefer exhibited anything similar to anyone else or since, so he retains his job.

That's my understanding of the situation - I could be wrong. And certainly in this day and age, the Twitter mob would be howling at the news if it happened today and he'd be, in all likelihood, fired.

From my understanding Kluwe laughed about the clear joke Preifer made at the time. It was only after he had a beef with the Vikings that he became offended.

Profootballtalk is covering this. I'll give Florio some props here given he's rather left leaning... but this was targeted. Why to me is a big question that should be answered.

The NFL's transparency is clearly due to some sort of agenda.

Honestly, given how the NFL cheaps out on so many things, if a hacking organization wanted it, they could probably get it.

This is a great piece by Florio today on his PFT website that you're probably referencing - link.

I remember reading on PFT in early July that the NFL revealed the outcome of the WFT investigation right before the July 4th holiday weekend and Florio speculated it was deliberate so no one would notice and/or ask questions.

But now that a small group of anti-Gruden e-mails have been leaked to the media that cost Gruden his job, I totally agree with Florio in that the NFL needs to release them all and be totally transparent in its finding with the public.

And that's a separate issue than the content of the "Gruden emails"; I don't think many people would defend what Gruden wrote to Bruce Allen in those emails, regardless what email account he wrote them under or who he was employed by at the time.

I hope other members of the media outside of Florio, particularly ESPN and perhaps national news outlets, start asking the NFL to be significantly more transparent about the rest of the e-mails and WFT investigation. Or else the entire thing looks exactly like Raptorman stated - a "hit job"...and you'll have countless questions from fans and non-fans about the legitimacy of the NFL...

...and since the league is looking to expand their footprint in Europe (I noticed that some cities in Germany are inquiring with the NFL about hosting games), the last thing the NFL needs is questions on their legitimacy. The cover-up nearly always appears worse than the actual crime itself...

Blige and Kendrick Lamar songs, I believe that Dr. Dre's, Snoop Dog's and Eminem's albumns from the 1990's included homophobic, misogynistic and racist lyrics/references...

To me, it seems hypocritical for the NFL to indirectly oust somebody for prior controversial comments, while on the other promoting artists who used similar controversial lyrics in prior years for the biggest and most-watched NFL game of the entire year.
