Was there disgust? Sure. Relief? Yep. But also a lot of celebration when Joseph nailed the kick. We deserved to be on the right side of one of those. In person, you don't take away from that moment to whine about anything. You take the win.

Yes you take the win. Being at a game is far different. Even being in a group of Vikings fan at a bar is different than watching at home. I watch by myself these days because my wife stopped watching with me. By myself I had mixed emotions because I thought it was over and couldn't believe they left Adam open like that. Then I panicked because I just knew he'd miss. So when he didn't I was more just relieved that I didn't have to face the Monday morning mental beat down when co-workers ask me what the hell is wrong with my team. It was a terrible win but not as bad as a humiliating loss. So not so much emotions as thankful to not have as much to answer for.

I’m tired of this team turning into a frightened turtle every time they have a marginal lead. That’s on Zim, I’m not on the “blow it up” train just yet, but I really don’t see these tendencies changing and it nearly cost them a game that Vegas gave them 10 points.

On the bright side, while the run D still needs some work, the D has been making some plays on 3rd and when it counts.

Bring on the Panthers, let’s get 3-3 at the bye with some momentum.

But it's more than just that. The Vikings have only scored one touchdown in two straight games and haven't scored a second-half touchdown since Week 1. They need to avoid costly penalties, like the ones called on Chris Herndon and Oli Udoh against the Lions, and they need to eliminate the dropped passes that have been a bit of an issue. If the Vikings' offense can get back to playing the way did in the first three games of the season, they'll give themselves a shot. But after watching the last two weeks, particularly this game against a bad defense, I'm awfully skeptical.

Looks like my rants in the 4-hour car ride home are similar to what shows up at SI. lol.

You cant underestimate the way Detroit ALWAYS plays us tough, IMO. Stats never mean much it seems, they will mark us up some.

I thought the same. 1st half they kept getting themselves into 3rd and +10 situations and converted several by actually throwing past the sticks. 2nd half needing 3 and longs were still there but Kirk started checking down. Then in the desperate final seconds when they had to it was there again. Now I understand that defense was playing different at that point. Still had me wondering if it could have been there all day. Only their stubborn choice to force runs that weren't there that was leaving them in 3rd and longs. Also after penalties and stuffed runs they find themselves in 2 and 20. Instead of trying to get half of it Kirk checked down or they tried to trick them with a run. As I said during the game does anybody on the team understand the term making it 3rd and manageable?
