Mediocrity was my greatest fear this year lol. I wanted 12-5 with a deep playoff run or 5-12 with a new regime. Nothing in between. 8-9 wins will be an absolute disaster.
Last year we started 1-5 with a much worse defense and we still managed to eek out 7 wins and save jobs, so yeah, I think it's history is repeating itself, unfortunately. We'll find a way to win those 8-9 games, and people will be excited about it for some reason.
6 wins might even save this regime if they keep losing close games. There's too much talk about how we're just 3 plays away from being 4-0, and it might sway Ziggy. We're also 3 plays away from losing all 4 games by double digits.
Defensively they seem to be figuring things out, averaging 15.5 points given up the past two games against two good offenses, but I am not sure how much that was Mayfield or the D today. The offense has struggled outside of game 3 though, and they just happened to be playing the worst D in the NFL that week.
Change will happen, I am just not sure it will be enough change. Likely the HC goes as the sacrificial lamb, while the guy who employed that HC all these years and who has been here much longer continues to put a team that is never good enough on the field.
Put it this way... if qbs switched for that Browns game the Browns would have won by at least 17
