Coming off a big win last weekend against the Titans, let's see how the Cards fans are feeling about the matchup against our Vikes.

Cousins is going to be running for his life and he's known to be a fumbler. I think the defense has a chance to have another big game. The Cards offense can make big plays against that Vikings D. This is all predicted of course on the defense again getting good penetration in the trenches when the Vikings try and turn to Cook to help take some of the pressure off Cousins.
Surprised the early line is the Cards only a 4 point favorite. Vikings OL is suspect and their LT Darrisaw was out vs. the Bengals. CJ might be in double digit for the season after 2 games in sacks if he gets to go against the Vikes backup LT this week.
Should be a very similar game plan in Week 2. Stop the run and then get after Cousins.
I suspect they will double or triple team Chandler Jones allowing J J Watt to have a field day against this offense.
After all the stuff that he pulled with the Cardinals, I'd like to see Patrick Peterson get burned for 100+ yards and a couple of touchdowns.
KC is peeing his pants right now with visions of Chandler Jones dancing in his head..lol
I'm sorry to the board for being so positive...its not like me....but I've never seen what I saw (Sunday)..in almost every facet of the game...maybe I'm fooled..but I think not

How the Vikings defeat the Cardinals threat is up to HC Zimmer. He now has video and you can bet the house mortgage that the Vikings will not repeat the Titans mistakes.
Knowing that Zimmer is studying, planning, and drawing up countermeasures, Kingsbury has to design new counter-countermeasures. And on and on it goes through 17+ games this season.

That is what K2 has not been able to do so far in his career. I sincerely hope that he does. However...it looks like we are trotting out the same offense...but with different players. A little more under center though, but Nuk is exclusively on the left again, and we still don't do any presnap movement. These defensive coordinators always catch up. Hopefully K2 learns to adapt before he loses his gig.
K2 is gaining confidence that his playbook is working. The new players are making a positive difference. I expect more of the same from K2 in the weeks ahead.
I'm watching QB Kyler Murray very closely to see if he repeats instinct and decision errors similar to those made in his rookie and sophomore years. The INT last weekend was caused by a high-arc lob pass, making it a 50/50 ball, and finally dropping it into the wrong hands. KM knows better than to take such a high risk of a turnover. That is an area needing immediate QB improvement.
I say, NEVER intentionally throw a 50/50 ball, except perhaps in a desperate Hail Mary situation toward D-Hop or AJ Green. Always throw the football to a spot that maximizes the WR's advantages (speed, timing, spacing, size). A 5'7" WR rarely comes down with a 50/50 ball. I expect KM to continue to develop his advantage awareness and eventually stop throwing anymore 50/50 balls.

I really hope the Cards come out and bring it this week. All the positivity from last weeks win is ruined with a loss here. Need to follow it up and be dominant.
Interesting fact about Derrick Henry. In 2020 he only had two games of under 65 yards. In the ensuing games he went for over 200 yards each time. Here's mud in your eye Seattle. Hopefully Henry returns to his 2020 ways and gashes you for HUGE yardage all game long.
The line for the game is stuck at 4. The media still doesn't trust us to handle our business at home against the Vikings based on how we can't seem to string more than a few solid games back to back the last few years. We love to play down to our competition and I have always questioned whether this team has a "killer" instinct and be willing to go for the jugular against a weaker opponent. They just changed the line to us being the favorites when they initially had the Vikings favored before the week 1 games.
KK....please prove them wrong and hang 40+ on the Vikings while keeping them in single digits.

Yep, the books don't trust the Cards to torch the Vikes.
I'm sitting tight on a 20-point differential with ARZ winning 30-10. Like the books, I also don't trust this Cards team to dominate on O and D. They gotta show me first. If the Cards do win big again on Sunday, then I will slurp down some tasty Kool-Aid.

Saturday morning.
Just because the Vikings starters are badly banged up does not mean the team won't put up a hard fight. Professionals always rise to the occasion. Back-up players will give everything they have to prove to the HC that they should be starters. The Vikings will taunt the Cardinals on every play and work the Zebras. The younger Cardinals players must stay disciplined and focused. I am prepared for major penalties due to Vikings hyper-aggression.
8th year HC Zimmer (66 wins, 2 NFCN Div titles, and 3 playoffs), OC Kubiak, and QB Cousins knows how to take advantage of what the Cardinals defense gives. HC Kingsbury and QB Murray must be smarter and faster than the Vikings entourage.
Go Cardinals!

We can't go in overconfident. Putmein posted Minnesota's coach Mike Zimmer's
NFL coaching record. It is impressive and they have beaten us the last two times
we have played, I picked us going away 34-7. But I'm a Cardinal Fan
and I have to believe until I am shown otherwise, The Cardinals are a great team.

Thanks for the video links. My takeaway -- the MIN coaching staff in these videos seemed nervous about team preparations for ARZ. Some of that nervousness is perhaps due to a loss of confidence in readiness after the shocking CIN loss. The Vikings did not start well vs the Bengals in their house, with something like a dozen penalties in the first 30 minutes (several were declined by CIN due to their hot offense moving the chains against the MIN D). CIN crowd noise was a factor and disrupted MIN comms and rhythm. The Vikings settled down in the 2nd half but they lost focus again in OT and ultimately lost the game. Bottom line: The Vikings D could not stop 2nd year QB Joe Burrow. Burrow was effective.
Per DC, the Vikings game plan on D is all about containing Murray. Per OC, the Vikings game plan on O is about ensuring Cousins has enough time to pass.
I look for a tough match up on Sunday. I take nothing for granted.

I'm very worried about the game. It reminds me of our third game last year against Detroit. We were 2-0 with a road win against SF and the home opener against Washington. The game was at home and I was very confident, but we lost a game that I was sure we'd win. And that's why I'm worried. That and the fact that MN is 0-1.
on a vikings forum their game thread title is "Vikings vs Cardinals support group" so I think they are expecting to get smacked.
what a weird position to be in for a Cardinals fan but it truly feels like we smack them. Vikings team didnt break 75 yards rushing vs the Bengals

Season opener, on the road against a powerful team, east coast early game?
In years past that was an automatic huge L for us.
This team seems like it has some dog in it. I think they smakk the Vikes. Remember when we were all kinds of pissy that we didn't get Kirk Cousins to sign here. Couldn't be happier now

Cardinals dodged a bullet there.
I'm happy with the way things have played out. Sure you want the best QB possible, but the Cardinals have been looking for a long term QB answer since Neil Lomax. I always thought that they could have done more, but they finally decided that they were going to address QB at all cost (drafting Rosen and then drafting Murray).
The Vikings took the easy route bringing in the older guy. Usually the older guy is going to have warts if he is available.

Any given Sunday, but if they prepare and execute how they did last Sunday. They will be 2-0 come Monday of next week.
This is exactly when the Cards are usually The Cards. Home opener, off of a convincing win, playing an opponent coming off an embarrassing loss...Screams of MN 27 - AZ 21.
I pick us to win, but not with much confidence.
Things to keep in mind. We had 4 months to game plan week one. Can this staff and player execute a game plan installed on Wednesday.
That being said, if we stuff Cook and pressure Cousins we our chances improve greatly.

What I saw from the Vikings was a team that struggled to establish the run and was struggling until the second quarter to do much of anything with the ball. Once Cousins started hitting the RBs on short passes that seemed to open up the rest of the offense. The OL didn't look particularly good--not sure if the Cincy DLine is that good or what. They were forced to give up the run and pass the entire 4th quarter since they were down 10 so I think looking at the box score probably doesn't paint a good picture. The Bengals seemed the more dangerous team on offense but I think the Vikes had more total yards.
I did watch Peterson a lot because I was interested in seeing how he'd play in a new uniform. He was rarely ever thrown at, it may not have been because his coverage was so good as it was because the other DBs were so BAD, Burrow missed on an early throw where the WR was wide open but other than that he seemed to pass the ball on them with relative ease (although he was sacked 5 times I think), the Bengals running game was pedestrian or maybe it was the result of the Vikings defense, can't say for sure.
The Vikings made a ton of penalties--I think it was 3 or 4 on the first drive and 10-12 overall (I am too lazy to fact check myself)--I think the Bengals were only penalized twice all game by comparison. Nothing about the Vikings seemed special, they don't look like a bad football team but the Cardinals at home should be the favorite.

I don't think people are giving the Bengals enough credit. I don't think there as bad as many make them out to be. As long as their Oline can give Burrows some time they have a good group of receivers in Chase, Higgins and Boyd and a good back in Mixon. They can do some damage. Week one had some pretty crazy results and some crazy plays. I believe the shorter preseason and the fact quite a few starters either hardly played or didn't play factored into that. Come week 4-5 things will begin to settle out and we will see who is real and who isn't. Does anyone really think the Packers, Bills and Titans are as bad as they played on Sunday? Does anyone really think the Ravens defense is going to give up 30+ points every week?
Anyways, as far as predictions for this week go, I think we have a decent shot, but I'm not expecting a beat down. That team is better than some are giving it credit for in this thread, and they have a wealth of weapons. I think the Bengals, especially offensively, are pretty good. No major shock that they managed to pull out a close one against the Vikes.
0-1 and desperate on the road versus a young team not used to being that dominant on the road.
I SMELL DETROIT game 2 just like last year. That's what makes this a clear trap game.
Cook and the boys are going to come out hard and we have to worry about getting a bit too big for our britches. Hopefully Prater can make his kicks FOR US this year.
Cards 32
Vikings 31
p.s. My family (from the upper midwest now mostly in AZ & TX) is filled with Vikings fans. I just bet my cousin an expensive steak dinner that we pull this one out. Perry's Steakhouse in Dallas on New Years weekend is the payoff! BRING IT HOME K1!!!!

I think we win, but it won't be a blowout.
Thoughts on their thoughts!?!
