lol yes you have to pay good players on your team thats how sports work. With how bad our Oline is its shocking there is even a debate. So we dont pay O'Neil and let him walk? I understand you points, and I agree O'Neill should have been signed, but the details are what I disagree with. Saying you will pay players and saying the money details don't matter are not one and the same. The money details always matter. Spielman should have locked O'Neill last year, but he didn't. It cost the Vikings a lot of future cap space for that mistake.

People said the same thing when Cousins was signed: "The Vikings paid market price," "We needed a quarterback and cost doesn't matter ..." Minnesota fans said the same thing about Parise, Suter, Mauer, and even Herschel Walker. Costs matter, and opportunity costs are often cruel and unsympathetic to the wants and future needs of any team in any sport that has fixed expenses. It is the dismal science of economics.

I get your points too, I dont agree with Kirks EXTENSION. I didnt mind the original signing coming off an NFC ship you think bringing in a better QB brings you over the top. Anyways just for the most part the Vikings are good with their money (besides Kirk) im not going to bash the contract even if he it looks overpaid im just glad to keep him here I love him on our line.

Having one good OL and 4 other bad ones isn't going to impact the line very much, especially from a pass rushing situation. A real difference could be made with several guys of O'Neill's talent. A good O-line can have a weak link as long as the other 4 are good.

I'm not worried about this year, but I am concerned about next year. I don't like the trend of void years, like paying Barr $10M next year to not play for us. Of course, O'Neill's big money mostly comes in 2023-2026 when the books are thin, so it's not like I hate the deal.
