Any chance we can play another meaningless preseason game to see if we can get anymore key starters injured
Sorry, just so mad about this. He is going to be a big loss
This is nothing more than confirmation bias for the anti-preseason crowd. I get being upset - because it does suck - but would it suck any less than being out of shape Week 1 and getting hurt then? At least it's not preseason, right? Zimmer spoke several times about the guys being out of shape and sucking wind. Getting hurt in practice and preseason are just unfortunate realities. No one can pinpoint when it happened, so it's not like it was some big hit that he took that blew out his knee. Seems like this was something that could have just as easily happened during practice, slipping in the shower, or even during at-least-it's-not-preseason Week 1.
Was just telling someone that yes, it sucks, but Travis Kelce he is not. George Kittle he is not. Darren Waller he is not. Yes, we expected big things out of him, but we're not replacing an All-Pro here or anything. As a matter of fact, I just saw a piece that PFF ranked him #26 coming in. Below guys like Cook (older than heck), Rudolph (slower than heck), Alie-Cox (WHO the heck? lol), etc. Yes, it sucks for him, the offense, and overall team, but if we can't find a way replace his previous production, this injury is the really the least of our worries.
26. IRV SMITH JR., MINNESOTA VIKINGS
Smith will have an opportunity to make a big jump up this list next offseason given that he is expected to have an increased role in 2021 following the departure of Rudolph to New York. His raw receiving numbers in 2020 were on par with his rookie production in 2019, but Smith got to those numbers more efficiently. He averaged over three yards more per reception last season and saw his receiving grade jump from 62.0 to 75.4. The Vikings will hope for another step forward in 2021.

It's not confirmation bias. It's actually confirmation 👍 These are professional athletes, out of shape is one thing they are not if they are serious about their career.
They take thousands of reps in the offseason. Veterans, They know what they are doing.
