Well, let's take a look at what could have been since Cousins has got here.

2018 we could have drafted Jackson, a QB significantly better than Cousins. With him at QB we probably make the playoffs in 2018, 2019 and 2020, although I doubt we win it all with him.

2019 we could have traded for the superior Tannehill for pretty much nothing. With a slightly better QB, and tons more cap space the Vikings would have been a real contender instead of getting blown out in the divisional round.

2020 there were multiple options as good or better than Cousins. Rivers would have been good enough for us to win 7 games with and would have cost a lot less. Brady would have cost less and at least gotten us to the playoffs even if our defense wasn't good enough to do anything once we got there.

2021: Not sure yet. I was going to go with Wentz until he got hurt, but maybe Cam has a bounce back year.

So 3 for 3 so far where Cousins wasn't the best option available. Options that were significantly cheaper and better QBs.

I have no doubt that there will be better options in 2023 too.

That is a strawman that you are using so you don't have to argue what people actually claim, that we would lose good players and be unable to put a good enough team around Cousins to win it all with his contract. Look I don't care if we hand the ball to Chad Beebe and he does the friggin back stroke down the field some how. This damn team has enough talent. It's on the coaches at this point. Rick did his job. Go win games. I'm here to watch it unfold.

Kirk Cousins was near the top in yards per attempt. It's 2 weeks before the season there is just no God damn way I'm gonna sit here like 'booo hooo we can't win cause blah blah blah" this team is far better than I thought they would be 8 months ago. The NFC blows. Go win games. I'll torch em if they choke. But I'm ready to roll.. let's fn play.

I agree the roster from a talent on paper standpoint goes, the season will rise on the coaches (barring health-which goes back to depth). I don’t think our depth is very good at all and we know we are bound to have some injuries. Every team does every year. I know no team has depth all over the roster, but the deep contending teams usually have good depth scattered all over. I can’t think of one position group our depth is great at other than maybe DT and maybe rb. I can’t see this team going too far this year but I sure as sh!t hope I’m wrong.

Tannehill is still a very pricey QB, but more affordable than Cousins. The Titans did move $9.2M out of his 2021 cap hit using void years, which is a move the Vikings will likely use on Cousins if they don't extend or trade him.

I agree the roster from a talent on paper standpoint goes, the season will rise on the coaches (barring health-which goes back to depth). I don’t think our depth is very good at all and we know we are bound to have some injuries. Every team does every year. I know no team has depth all over the roster, but the deep contending teams usually have good depth scattered all over. I can’t think of one position group our depth is great at other than maybe DT and maybe rb. I can’t see this team going too far this year but I sure as sh!t hope I’m wrong.

It is the exception that proves the rule, but some point to that ONE time like it nullifies the vast majority of end game situations.

It's a joke.... he is the highest paid employee within the whole organization...... yet we are not allowed to expect dominant play by him on the field? It's simple.... Kirk is too comfortable being average and loves that comfort level that comes with it. That's part of why he's not a winner.

Free agency is the tax you pay for not drafting a QB. Of course you were going to pay more than fair value for him. But if you have a complete WR and CB room for under 30/mil you can do that. There are many ways to skin a cat. If you really thought you were getting Tom Brady level play because of price that was the mistake. Talent don't dictate price, market conditions do. So then you have to have bargains on other areas and we do have over performing under paid guys to balance it out. That how the salary cap works. Let alone we didn't even use all our cap space which only further makes it mute.
