NO ASSISTANTS SHOULD REMAIN, and here is why: because this time, the Wilfs need to hire a head coach who has his own opinions and plans and contacts, on both sides of the ball. Zimmer got here in 2014 and promptly kept a big chunk of Leslie Frazier's offensive assistants - including absolute duds like WR coach George Steward and OL coach Jeff Davidson. I want a head coach who has been aspiring to be a HC for a while and has his own ideas, not another who knows how HALF a team works and is just looking for any warm body to handle the rest.
Throw the baby out with the bathwater. Is this baby worth keeping, anyway? We could dig through the minutiae of Patterson's past for weeks, but here's what I know: this team's defensive unit has been run over and thrown over for 2+ years and is presently the weak point of this team despite getting more resources than the offense...why would we want to keep one of the "architects" of that defense around as a building block??
I'm not giving Patterson credit or blame for any of it because he's clearly just a puppet. His numbers without Zim speak for themselves.
... and neither is this Chris guy.
