IMO O'Neill has succeeded here because he is motivated to learn and improve on his own - he has made himself good despite coaching that has failed every other OL prospect here.
The ultimate condemnation of the Coaching is Bradbury. Absolutely killer tape against multiple DTs that are now Starters in the NFL. There's only two possible reasons for him to play so poor after looking so good in College: he doesn't have the heart (doubtful) or the Coaching he's getting sucks.
I stated this in another thread but I'll repeat it here, Garrett Bradburys' biggest problem in pass pro is his footwork. When watching tape of him in pass reps there is a common theme, it starts with his base being too wide and is compounded by what he does with his left foot. His left foot goes out away from his body and back. This out and back movement means his feet are not underneath him correctly and effects his ability to engage and anchor because he is not balanced.
As soon as the DL engages, Bradbury is toast because he's off balance and his feet are too far apart. This is a correctable flaw, but somehow hasn't been fixed, and the only logical conclusion to why it hasn't been fixed is because the OL coaches aren't doing their job or they are teaching the wrong techniques.
Bradbury wasn't doing these things in college, his footwork wasn't perfect but it was decent, he wasn't setting his base so wide either.
After his struggles as a rookie he made some changes, and those changes have morphed into the poor technique we see now.
The unknown question is did the coaching staff recommend thses changes, or was he left to his own devices to figure it out for himself? Whatever the answer to that, it still comes back to bad coaching.
I agree with Jor-El that O'Neill has been able to improve himself despite the poor OL coaching.
