He is far from perfect and I have no problem with replacing him with a better QB but so far all I see is people suggesting plans that will take us backwards not forwards.

Show me a viable option that gives us a better QB than Kirk and I’m on board. Got any names?

You just asked me the same question I just answered?? As I said to start we are on the hook for $10 million and a trade partner takes the $35 million and the option to extend. That not fingers in the ears. You also seemed to miss the point from the beginning that I said the new regime has this question to answer. You go sideways on it saying we deserve to lose because we give up the best statistical QB in decades. Losing is what we've been doing with half a team and a QB eating a huge % of the cap. Are we just going to keep going in circles with this? I'm not.

If being a Viking fan was easy ~ everyone would do it.

What you suggested has a significantly greater chance of taking us backwards not forward. Unless you can explain how this guy from Nevada is a lock to be an improvement. Maybe he is. I just have no clue what makes him an upgrade over Kirk.

I think the latest we'll know is March 16th, as I don't think they'll wait past free agency to extend him / restructure him. That is a shot in the dark since it's possible they could wait until the summer for a restructure/void year addition, but that's my best guess.

Matthew Stafford was "unofficially" traded on Jan 31st last year - it wasn't official until March, buy everybody knew the trade was a done deal in January. A trade that early is not off the table.

RickHasBeenFired may be right - with Spielman gone, there will be no need to keep him on the basis of his draft status, so he should be gone if he was a worthless pick. I didn't think he had starting potential when he was picked, but if he had been coached well over the past year, he should have been ready to win the backup job in 2022.

Just getting more than 1 out of every 5-6 1st rounders onto a 2nd contract would be a big accomplishment at this point. It's kind of a wonder they were considered "contenders" inside the organization and by the absentee ownership when you consider how utterly lacking depth the roster is at this point.
