Xavier Woods signed

The 2022 defense is going to have a lot of holes. There's quite a few guys with 1year deals on this defense. Barr, Peterson, Alexander & Woods. Unless O'Neill gets something done beforehand that's a guy on offense that only has 1 year left. It is what it is but we could be looking to restock again next off-season too.

It's smart though. Because they don't know where the cap will be. If we ball out some of them will resigned this keeps us flexible with the unknown. We got Tomlinson for 2 yrs too.

Agreed. I think these are auditions... I'm expecting 1-2 of these guys are extended based on how they play this year. My gut says Barr doesn't come back.

Here's the thing though, another way to look at it. Tomlinson got 2yrs. I not even sure we keep Pierce after this year when his cap hit goes up and approaching 30? Looking at his contract we can get out of it after a year. Mack hopefully another year and Gladney and Hand also Cam get better. It's not all that rare for young CBs to be like depth guys in year 2 Mack and Waynes. Gladney had to play last year because we was sorry. Xavier I still expect to grab a safety like Parris Ford or Richie Grant a few other names in like the 3rd RD. PP is here to help bring leadership and teach these guys how to expand their game. While also playing solid and holding things down for a year. So Zim has another CB to help teach. We won't need to sign all of them back. Plus we have 2 drafts and another free agency before we take the field in 2022. So we have time to sort it out and sign one or 2 and let the others go with guys behind them developing for that. I not to concern with 2022 quite yet 2021 still ahead. We feel this way every off season. Who would of thought we could or would do this much in free agency. Tomasson said we would do nothing. It will work itself out. I will worry about that bridge when it comes. My energy is on one year at a time. They have to have a eye for the future but not us.
