As for the Patriots, they might still be in on a rookie QB, but it could be harder now that QBs seem to be going 1-2-3 to start the draft. Would Garoppolo be a big enough upgrade from Newton to be worth the trade and salary?
I mean I think it’s actually a good plan to keep jimmy for one year and start him while your rookie sort of raw/holes in his game (fields) or very raw (lance) sits and learns for a year. The worst thing you can do is start a rookie qb who isn’t ready specifically mentally to start and then ruin his psychy by letting him take a beating either getting picked off or hit too much and losing games because of them if they aren’t ready. Will destroy their career. We have seen that happen many times.
